The STi Club of Cincinnati and the Midwest

I am interested in setting up something similar to what ScoobyDo is doing. I need to find a group of individuals in the Cincinnati/Midwest Area that would like to be involved in a Fleet Purchase of Subaru WRX STi's. Once we have a decent number of individuals I will work on negotiating the deal. We are talking about an STi at ~$500 over invoice. But to do this we need to get as many people as possible. I know there are some out there. Please reply to the thread and PM me if you are interested. For more information check out the San Diego thread:

Yup, I am definitely up for this. I was going to look into starting one myself here in Chicago. My first concern is making sure I get one and the next is paying some crazy dealer markup. So if we can lock something in... the sooner the better.

Cool! :D

I don't want to discourage you, but... I am currently finding $1000 over invoice seems to be the floor. If you can do better than that great!

Anyway, I am almost a week into this, counting the time it was posted on a Subaru newsgroup and I have fewer than 10 people on the San Diego List. I thought the hardest part was going to be dealing with the Subaru dealers. Oh well, I will say this the dealers would like to sell us alot more than 10!!! Where are the buyers? :-?

See you at the races:

My question is how do we know the dealers will be able to sell more than 10? :-? Will they even get that many? And no offense ScoobyDo but how do I know I can trust you with $500 bucks.. it adds up when u get about 15 people that put down money.

In truth we don't.

None taken. I am NOT taking any money. A reputable dealer will take your order and a small deposit (~$500) after Subaru officially announces the North American STi.

I am merely proposing that we negotiate a better deal for ourselves as a club by organizing our purchase though a few dealerships. If Subaru will not ship enough cars to the dealers for us to do this. Well, then plan "B" is in effect, namely if you go back and read my original statement. I suggested you should keep your name on an independent list at a different dealership, just in case.

I am only trying to improve our situation. Let me put it like this.

If you were in the business of selling cars. How many cars would you want to sell per month, two for $1000 over MSRP, or ten for $1000 over invoice? It may not be a fair question, but you can see how an aggressive dealership can be motivated in this way. In otherwords what the dealer looses in mark-up he more than makes up for in volume.

Your first question was how do we know that they will get ten cars. And the answer is; we can't know until Subaru makes their official announcement. If their announcement allows the dealer to do this kind of deal AND we are organized then we can benefit. If the numbers are not there, or we are not organized then it will be a mad rush to the dealer, each of us trying to out bid the other guy (not really, but my point is that we will put upward pressure on the price if we are foolish with our money at the dealerships).

Just trying to help.
ScoobyDo :)
