Maybe this is a rhetorical question but I'm on the market to buy an exhaust for my car and the Tanabe Medallion Touring is on my radar. Its soo quiet and has a nice tone to it. I would buy a Maddad whisper but the tanabe right now is $100 cheaper. I spoke with a Tanabe representative about this exhaust and they told me that there is a slight bottleneck to where it meets the dp. The bottleneck is 72mm (2.85") but the rest of the piping is 80mm (3.15"). Now, my question is...will i be able to mate this with my Helix dp or will i have to fabricate an adapter?

From what I was told it bolts up to any standard length downpipe with a 3" flat flange. But I was also told that it was 3" pipe the full length no bottlenecks. I am interested in hearing what people think of this catback. It is a change in design from their previous one and I havent seen any posts for it yet.

this is what the guy told me in an email...

The Medalion Touring and Concept G catbacks have a very slight taper
where it mates to the factory main catalyzer. Since these exhausts are
meant to install onto the factory cat, this slight taper had to exist
for proper attachment to factory components and the unique connection
type for the catalyzer. The remaining piping section is 80mm (~3.15")
whereas the tapered portion goes down to 72mm (~2.85"). Our engineers
put in considerable effort to minimize this taper without affecting OEM
fitment and it is not as severe as other manufacturers who have a much
larger bottleneck.
