Ends: October 8th

FAQ's

How many photo's can I submit?
Submit your best Subaru photos to [email protected]

Can I just send a link from my photo hosting site with the pictures of my choice?
Please attach the photos to the email, please do not link the photos.

Can I just send any photo?
All photos must be hi-res images only. Car must be in focus and not hidden by its own shadow. No shadows from the person taking the photo. Pictures of just parts on the car are not preferable.

What kind of file types are allowed?
File types allowed JPG, PNG

Can I use photos that were taken by another photographer?
The photo's should be your very own unless you have the rights from the photographer. We don't want to use images that belong to other photographers without permission.

What if I want to feature people in the photos?
If you have people in your photo, they must sign some agreement stating they agreed to be photographed for the calendar submission and relinquish all rights and interest and grant us a license to use their image for commercial use, or something like that. If you are serious about it, please contact Kevin.

Are group photos allowed?
Yes, as long as its an all Subaru group!

Can I resubmit the same photo I used from past calendars?
We would like to see fresh new photos, we want to see variety and creativity! It wouldn't be cool to feature the same photos as past years.

What is not allowed in your photo's?
No watermarks, borders, signatures, advertising or username allowed on the photo's. No people (unless rolling shot), nudity, pets, or illegal acts allowed in the photos.

Additional notes on resolution:

What is resolution?

Resolution determines the maximum size at which an image can be printed while retaining quality. The higher the resolution, the better the print quality. We recommend a resolution of 300 PPI (pixels per inch) at the dimensions your image will be printed. If your image resolution is lower than 300 PPI, your image may look jagged or grainy when printed.

How do I get sufficient resolution?
The resolution of digital images is determined at the time the picture is taken. To achieve sufficient resolution for one of our photo upload products, you’ll need at least a 2 Megapixel camera set to the highest resolution (a 1600 x 1200 pixel setting is perfect).

How does cropping affect resolution?
Be careful when cropping a photo after it is taken. Cropping will reduce the number of pixels (and thus, the resolution) in the final image. For example, if you had a 300 PPI image, but cropped it to half its physical size, you’d end up with a 150 PPI image.

What do I put in the subject line and body?
Please put this in your subject line: 2014 Subaru Calendar - your username - and if you are a premium. If you are a regular member you don't have to put anything just the text and your username in the subject line.

Please include your instagram if you have one and a link to your members journal as we might also want to feature you on our social media:

Re: [SUBMIT NOW] 2014 IWSTI Calendar Photo Submissions

do the selected get a calender free?
Re: [SUBMIT NOW] 2014 IWSTI Calendar Photo Submissions

submitted the pics.

The goal is to feature all submissions. Some will be receive more real estate to cover than others. At the rate we are going, we should just produce a book because the quantity and quality we are receiving is just mind blowing.
Re: [SUBMIT NOW] 2014 IWSTI Calendar Photo Submissions

Submitted :D, oh yeah and it's HUGE btw like 6000x4000
Re: [SUBMIT NOW] 2014 IWSTI Calendar Photo Submissions

reason why I asked was, because the requirement was to send a high-res not watermarked.
and made me wonder if the photo was good or too good, where else will it end up
later on, and if the owner of the photo gets a perk for his submission.
Re: [SUBMIT NOW] 2014 IWSTI Calendar Photo Submissions

submitting now. really wish we could link these. Most of my photos are 10+MB and I have to lower the quality to get them into emailable format.
Re: [SUBMIT NOW] 2014 IWSTI Calendar Photo Submissions

2 megapixels is acceptable ? Dang, I consider the pics taken with my fiancée's 9 MP camera to be too low res for any acceptable use except plastering them on my journal, yet alone using them for a calendar...

Rest easy though, even if I had high quality pics, I'm not submitting my POS! ^^

I've printed 11x17 posters from a 6 MP Nikon D70, and they look terrific. Unless this calendar is being printed on the side of a building or your fiancée's 9 MP camera is junk, they would be fine.
:D

Here are some examples of the past calendars we produced. Perhaps once you see that then you would understand why it may not be feasible to give everyone who submitted a free calendar:

I see what you are saying, but at the same time, I see a couple of photos repeat
on a certain pages..

That usually happens by mistake. It is a monumental effort to manage the production of the calendar from beginning to end.
Re: [SUBMIT NOW] 2014 IWSTI Calendar Photo Submissions

Is there a limit to the # of photos we can submit...?
Re: [SUBMIT NOW] 2014 IWSTI Calendar Photo Submissions

I dont mind submitting/ contributing photos,
I do mind if I lose rights to my own photos,
or them being used for other things other than
calender, with me having no control. just saying.
Re: [SUBMIT NOW] 2014 IWSTI Calendar Photo Submissions

Sent.

Also a massive 6000x4000 size.. enjoy haha.

No limit at this time.

I would prefer it if you don't submit so as not to create any issues for you or for me.
