Re: Okay, thanks to the community, here we go. ROUND 3!! Parts for Sale!

All parts are in quite literally incredible condition and have less than 6000 miles on them. Parts can be seen in my journal.

Why you may ask? New motor let go @ 1400miles and I am going to take this car into a different direction, of which all parts below will be replaced. I do prefer local pick-up / meeting half way. I will be open to shipping the small stuff.

Perrin Black FMIC, couplers and mounting brackets included: $800
Perrin Red Recirc BOV: 100$
Perrin Turbo Inlet (2.4inch): $175
Deatschwerks 850CC Top Feed Injectors w/ fresh seals (1400 miles): $425
Stock FPR: $45
Invidia V2 Downpipe w/ O2 bung. $225
SPT Intake: $150
Stock STI Springs: $150
Stock STI Sway Bars: $150 for both
Grimmspeed Ported Coated Uppipe: $175
Grimmspeed Ported Coated Header w/ high flow crosspipe: $500
Perrin Front Sway Bar (gold painted): 100$

MY04/05 Carbon Fiber hood scoop: $250

While the motor is out, I think I am going to grab a Killer B oil pick up.

Re: Okay, thanks to the community, here we go. ROUND 3!! Parts for Sale!

Had a long day of tearing the engine down...I will post pictures tomorrow -:eek::(

I finally got to take a look into the oil pan and I am very sad with my findings. Looks like someone threw a bunch of bark mulch in there! So much metal, SO MUCH. There were little bits on the cam seals, cams, EVERYWHERE.

Also, to my surprise, the crank sprocket that goes in front of the oil pump was ab-so-friggin-lute-ly demolished on the back side. It had ground down and had heat spots????

At least my valve lash was amazing.

Just finished day 3 of motor tear down. Purchased a parts washer also at Harbor Freight, nice and cheap ~90 bucks. 20 gallon.

Re: Massive picture update - motor carnage.

Looks like you have lost the rod bearings... and from the damage to the oil pump I would say the thrust bearing is dead as well.

Make sure you replace the stock oil cooler and all the filters in the AVCS lines as they will be full of bearing material.

Re: Massive picture update - motor carnage.

Thanks Crawford!! This has been quite an epic journey for me to say the least. I bought the car, not planning on modifying it at all - here I am a year later studying the engine and builds of other Subarus trying to make something for my own.

Re: Massive picture update - motor carnage.

Have you guys seen what happened to the oil pump before? I am clueless as to how that happens. Should there have been a gap/spacer/bearing of some sort or does that sprocket ride against it normally?

Re: Massive picture update - motor carnage.

Its one of two things, the thrust side of the rear main bearing is damaged or the crank is broke in the middle. Most likely it’s the rear main bearing.

There's not much we havent seen when it comes to Subaru motors.

So did the original builder just say "sorry about Your bad luck" or are they offering any help?

Good question Cone. I will see what Slowboy says most likely tomorrow after the holiday weekend is over. I sent a very detailed and lengthy email to them.
