Hello,can anyone inform me as to correct grade of synthetic oil that should be used for MY02 sti.My local dealer here in South Africa has Petronas Syntium 5-40W aswell Mobil 1 10-40W 100% syn.
And is it safe to drain exhisting oil & replace with 100% synthetic without using engine flush.Any help will be appreciated.thanks

You can replace regular oil with synthetic no problems and no flush. As far as weights...it depends on how you drive and what your weather is like. My guess would be that the 10-40 would be just fine. There is an article I read that you shouldn't try to span your viscosity weights more than 30..so 10-40 would be right at 30 and probably work just fine.
