Switch for dual horns?

Hi,

I just received a set of hella supertone horns with the subimod dummy-proof wiring harness. But I am hoping to retain the stock horn, and switching between the stock and the hellas with a switch in the cockpit.

I was thinking of running 3 long wires from an SPDT switch in the cockpit to the stock horn signal wire. So the signal wire runs up one wire to the switch, which would send the signal down to either the stock horn or the hella relay, depending on the switch's position.

Would that work? What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Holy shit this place is useful! oh well, I'll use this as a project journal.

I realize that with my original plan, I'm sending the load-bearing current for the stock horn through the switch. That seems unnecessary. Instead, I'm going to make a little splitter at the tail end of the stock horn wiring harness.

One line will go straight to the stock horn.
One line will go back to the cabin, through an on/off switch, and then back to the hella relay signal.

This way, the only thing actually coming back into the cabin is the current to trigger the hella relay. Neither the stock horn nor the hella horns will require power to come through the firewall.

The only downside to this system is that the stock horn will go off in ADDITION to the hella, but I dont think that's a problem.

Anyone have thoughts on this?
Why would you want to run all three horns? Hellas are hella loud enough
I'm confused as to why you are trying to reinvent the wheel here? You already have the harness and everything else. Just wire it up and enjoy smashing that steering wheel when someone cuts you off!! If you really want the third horn just tap into the harness to give it power.

You do understand he posted that over a year ago?
