Here is my Journey so far with my 2020 WRB wrx sti from pickup, to my continued love for the car! One of the most smiles for miles I have ever experienced! I have always wanted the famous WRB with Gold rims! (No gold rims yet).....

So I wanted to start this and include the mods I felt were important and tasteful to me.

1. First thing I did was install an exhaust I went with the Invidia R400 (didn't know about the drone, youtube videos did not show that.....remedy Soon)

2. Then came the kartboy short shifter with bushings and grimmspeed 600g weighted knob. (Did not know about the transmission whine, Remedy Soon, BUT (shifts were insanely smooth, precise and solid)
- I installed 2 to 3 layers of sound deadening material above the transmission, shifter and front of the cabin. (I could have done a better job on the front cabin area but I was down to using leftovers from the trunk, doors and rear lid) (Some photos of completed product I did not get as I was just eager to get it back together)

2. I then upgraded the door speakers and tweeters with the OEM kicker upgrades and installed sound deadening inside the door panels. (I feel these still need more power going to them. The factory HU is not capable. Adding the OEM sub and a 200-400watt amp or so to power the front speakers and tweeters would really make the speaker system rock

(I feel I went overboard on the door sound deadening.... Definitely improved the mid bass but cannot tell until I get an amp to up the power to the speakers)

3. I then took the sound deadening a step further and did the trunk lid, trunk area and upper cover area

Will work great for the OEM rear sub later on. To get the cover to snap back down I had to cut squares around the holes for the push clips.
(Thankful that horror is over! Road noise, vibrations, transmission whine and drone are 90% gone!)

4. Rally Armour mud flaps were then installed to protect the sides of the vehicle plus you have to admit they are just cool

5. I then swapped all of the badges on the vehicle but left the STI badges as they are for now.

6. Finally Wheel caps to tie the badges all together

Mods im currently waiting to install (Thanks to advice and help from this forum and tuners)
1. Cobb ap
2. VSC V2 catted DP
3. Grimmspeed uppipe Ceramic coated
4. Grimmspeed TMIC coupler set
5. Cobb 1050 injectors
6. Cobb 3 port EBCS
7. Cobb SF intake w/ AIRBOX (I do not see why this is $475)
8. Perrin Turbo Inlet
9. AEM 340LPH

(Will keep an update on install)

Exterior Future
1. Rims and tires, Not sure which I want to go with yet. (use OEM for winter set)

Suspension Future
1. Bilstein or ?

Thank you for viewing

Welcome and nice car.

for the wheel/tire/suspension. It’ll depend on what your goals are and where you’re using the car for.

Thank you! The car will just be used for spirited driving down back roads that are really curvy. Really don't want a super stiff ride. Maybe lower the car just a bit. The wheels I was looking at are the mach V crucial 19x9. Probably wrapped in some nittos 265x35rx19
Welcome! Sounds like you're having fun with the STI. Quick question, is the trans whine from the shifter bushings really that bad? That's going to be my next mod.

I cannot stop driving it! To me it's obnoxious. Cruising around town it gets old really fast. The only other option was I ordered the group N rear shifter bushing if my sound deadening did not work. But It's a stiffer rubber bushing and not a solid polymer. Less noise and vibration transfer. The front bushing can be a solid polymer. I highly recommend the grimmspeed weighted shift knob

Really nice sound deadening job. I just did the shifter bushings and while I like the actual sound of the whine I wouldn’t mind it being a little quieter (I kept stock mufflers too). It sounds like you managed to get cabin noise down pretty far so that gives me some hope, I’m ok with vibration and harshness but would like to hear the speakers better.

Two to three layers of 200-300 mil sound deadening mat will definitely make it almost unnoticeable. I will try and do a sound clip later today. I cut out 1 300mil and 2 200mil layers and surrounded the shifter itself.

The drone at 3000rpms is barely noticeable of its even there. I can carry conversations in the vehicle now.
I went through 111sqft of mat to do everything I pictured. I added the weight up of all the mat. And It only added 79.8 lbs of dead weight to the vehicle. For convenience and quite it was worth it to me. I did the trunk lid also. Not sure what's all it changed but the lid closes really easy now

Nice. I used to work at mach v. The crucials are nice wheels. Though personally I prefer the 18x9.5.

and suspension doesn’t mean stiffer, cheap suspension does. Cygnus performance offers custom calved coilovers made by fortune auto, if you wanted that, they ride just as nice as stock and offer better handling. Just a thought
