So tell me about the new (for the USA) variable valve timing that’s in the Sti as compared to Honda VTEC or IVTEC. Is it near the same? What is the "kick" over point?

This isn't a variable LIFT system as the VTEC or VVTL-i systems would be. This is the part of the system that you don't notice.....variable valve TIMING isn't a noticible trait. The kick you are referring to is the change in valve lift, not timing.
