Subaru Club of Guam, born on date, 23NOV08. Official name was decided today via electronic votes on the internet. Mission statement is still forthcoming and schedule of events will be planned at the beginning of 2009. Subie meet was held on today's autocross in Yigo. A few pictures posted but more to come once prospective members receive invitations, referrals and word of mouth.

Here is the link for folks that might be interested that are probably off-island and miss their home.

That link is full of porn.

Any how, I'm moving to Guam here in the next few months. My questions are the following:

- Should I take my 2011 stage 2 STI or should I get a beater?
- If I take my STI, should I put it back to stock?
- How bad is the rust for cars? I know it was a nightmare in Diego Garcia.
- Are there places where you can go fast without getting in trouble?
- Are there good mechanics in case I decide to go beyond Stage 2?
- Will my warranty be valid in Guam?

Holy Sh!AT....

I just found out that shipping a 2nd car to Guam will cost me at least $2400.00!!!!!

2nd car = 2011 STI

I'll have to make a tough decision in the next couple of months... :(

I'm on Andersen as well...Air Force...haven't met any military that has a STI or a WRX. Was just looking to see if someone wanted to help work on mine...just changing rear diff fluid...cannot find a 22mm deep socket for the life of me. I was just over where the army was today actually.

You mean THAAD? If so, yep that's my group then. Commo? You probably were up at our TOC (tactical operations command) where all the big wigs work. Nah, you being an E3 doesn't bother me, wouldn't if we were only in different units, much less different branches, I've got a couple buddies back in El Paso who are E4s (I'm an E5), think one was an E2 before he left. Guessing you drive that WRB hatchback with a roof-rack I see in the parking lot of that barracks close to the plane that's not the Silverlight memorial.

I think I know where you're saying the hobby shop is then, but unfortunately I'm at work almost every day here, especially week days, otherwise I'd be glad to come up and help. Haven't had a chance to do a tranny flush yet, but I'm guessing you're just wanting to change the fluid and maybe run a batch through for a better clean. I can pop you a message on here letting you know if something changes though (no phone here), but I'm generally only free-ish on some weekends.

FYI, I do know there are at least 3 other STis on Andersen, a WRB blobeye (black-unpainted trunk) and a OBP hawkeye (has blobeye taillights) in the SF parking lot, believe the hawkeye is driven by one of the civilian police, haven't seen the driver of the blobeye near it yet. Also a grey or silver one parked near the old D-FAC, and one of my coworkers has seen a second WRB blobeye IIRC. Pretty sure I've seen a SWP 3rd gen sedan cruising around outside of the base a few times too, believe it had the WRX wing, can't quite recall.

So, I now know of a few more WRX and STis on base. There's that white 3rd gen sedan(Impreza GT), 1 black hawkeye with an STi wing, 1 black hawkeye with a WRX wing or wingless(can't recall witch), possibly 2 different blue hawkeyes with STi wings, at least 2 different blue blobeyes with STi wings, the grey/silver GD (have yet to see the front) near the DFAC by the VAQs, and then there have to be at least 2 or 3 blue 3rd gen hatchbacks (one with a roof rack, the other one or two without).

Still unlikely that I can be able to help on any work though, even as much as I'd like to, as some car time is better than none. :(

Have you ever used ECUflash? I'm getting an e-tune, since there are no tuners here. I have never used these programs and nervous about bricking my ecu lol

Never even heard of it. Why don't you go the normal methods? Either a Tactrix cable or an AccessPort.
