Discussion Starter #1
Hi all,

Starting last winter or so when I started the car at cold it started making strange whoosh noise for a second or so.
it only does it on first cold start if temp is below 50F. It doesn't make this noise even on the first start if it is warmer 50F.

The car has 135K miles as you can see, and powertrain-wise it is basically stock. (has perrin turbo inlet due to stock one going bad)
Does this sound like the starter is going?

Yup..that's the starter brushes sticking when its cold out. My 06 does the same thing...when I replaced my worn out clutch in 2018 it had been making that noise for 2 years or so...and doing the clutch I replaced throw out bearing, (got a new OEM flywheel, with a pilot bearing already pressed in OEM), and everything else associated, but didnt replace the starter. After the weather started getting cold after that summer, the starter continued to make the noise. Its your starter.
