Oregon Trail Tragedy: Lovell and Freeman Killed at OTPR :(

Hey guys I took mine to the track yesterday. I only got to make 3 runs because it started raining. I still haven't got the launch down yet, bogged it everytime. But anyway here is the info.

1.931 60'
79.79 MPH
8.748 660
100.22 MPH
13.650 1320

I am confident it is a 13.4 second car based on my experience with my WRX. I am trapping 2 MPH higher than my WRX and it ran 13.6's all day. If I can get my 60' down I'll be in business.

FYI the track is about 1000 ft above sea level and it was about 75 degrees and 60-70% humidity. DCCD on auto and launching around 3500-4000 RPM. Tires at 44 PSI in the front 40 PSI in back. I was working into my launch until it started raining :-?

That's a lot of air in those tires. Is that what you are supposed to run with at a strip?

Yeah I think that is a lot. From what I remember, guys usually let some air out for better traction while drag racing.

if your AWD is bogging down its got too much grip so putting more in would help it spin a little to keep it on boost.

Ahhhhhhhhh, I guesss you're either really good at blowing air up my shorts or that could actually make some sense....

That is exactly why I increased the air pressure. I used to run 50 psi in my WRX tires to help lose grip. AWD drag racing is a whole different ball game compared to FWD and RWD. I am going to give it another shot this weekend and hopefully get a few more passes and get my 60' and ET's down.

I took it back to the track yesterday and got a better launch this time. My best time was 13.368 @100.00 :D Here is the run.

1.781 60'
80.07 MPH
8.483 600'
100.00 MPH
13.368 1320'

It is amazing what a good launch will do for your times. It was 80 degrees and sunny about 70% humidty. The track is 1000' above sea level. I had my tires at 50 PSI in front and 48 PSI in the back. DCCD on auto. Took it to 5000 RPM and let the clutch out very fast with my foot on it the whole way not exactly dumping it. You know it is a good launch when the revs just keep climbing after you have the clutch out. I had another 13.377 @100.22 so I know it wasn't a fluke.

The clutch still feels great. This thing never flinches. We'll see how well it holds up after turboback and a boost contoller. I am still waiting to get my gauges so it will be a couple of weeks before I start playing with boost. I am planning on getting it dynoed stock and with TurboXS exhuast in the next couple weeks. I'll keep everyone posted.

whats up all, just got back from the drag strip and was pretty happy with my run, this was the first time i even launched the car

1.833 60ft
8.694
79.70mph
13.601
99.80mph

launched at 4500rpm and slipped the clutch only a little bit, still bogged a little though, i am going to run higher tire pressure, in the low 40's next time to try and get a little spin off the line, i know i can get better 60's with some practice, a 1.6 would be great, shifted at 6500, had enough time to make another run, 18 min after the first run, wasnt to happy with the launch

1.888
8.758
75.27mph
13.820
97.57mph

tried a launch at about 5100, bogged a little and then the clutch gave me a little slip, i missed 3rd while i was trying to spray the intercooler, damn gadgetry, oh well, this is only the begining, much more mayhem is in store.

That is an excellent 60' time for your first time launching it. Keep up the good work and low 13's are very possible.

New Wheels for the STI Roja Formula 5 wheels

If you can drive it right, a stock STi can pull 13.1 on colder weather. Here is a clip of one doing a 13.15 pass. The temperature was around 50-55 degrees.
