I've been asking around for the information on if Subaru will build STI wagon or not. Desiree at Frank's Irvine Subaru in CA. She said "no wagon in the STi I can promise you that". That is pretty confident.

I've emailed SOA and they just said there is no plan on STI wagon as of yet. I personally emailed PR person at SOA aobut it. And I haven't heard back from her yet.

I know that there was a plan of building STI wagon before the WRX got a facelift treatment. Did that plan just disappear with the new face?

Subaru didnt' expect to sell a lot of wagon here in US. Actually, the sales number for the wagon was a somewhat of surprise for them, because it went way beyond their expectations.

So, what is going on here? were they pressing against time to come up with the wagon version? Or are they testing the US market with the facelifted WRXs to be in the safe water?

If anyone knows anything about if there is a plan to build STI wagon, please let me know!!

35k is not the right price!!

My guess is that they didn't drop it, but rather just postponed it. I wouldn't be surprised if they brought the STi wagon over in a subsequent model year...who knows? Maybe they'll make a surprise announcement for this year!

Yeah, I guess I don't feel the STi in a wagon. If you are all about cutting weight in a car to the point of leaving out a stereo....why add more sheet metal, frame and glass to add "cargo room".

That and putting that wing on top of a wagon would make it hard to get into your garage.

My answer would be that it doesn't matter to me. If somone else wants one then great but I don't need one. If I want a wagon then I would get something else like a regular WRX.

they should be purists and not make every impreza model a ST
Well...

I don't know what you mean by a "purist". Do you mean high performance car that resembles' WRX's WRC car should be in a sedan form only?

STI strives to bring out the best performance out of most of Subaru models in Japan. It has been a long time tradition to have both sedan/coupe and wagon version s of STIs.

I am not trying to start an argument on this thread. So please, no debates on why sedan is better.

I just want to see the American car market to be enriched with better cars. I wish Subaru will bring their Blitzen products here in the States!!!

Trust me on this one. If you don't like the wagon, that's fine. But, having varieties of "good cars" will make the car shopping so much more fun.

ask 'em about a minivan. that's what i'm eagerly waiting for from subaru. it doesn't even have to be an sti. but i'd like at least 240hp like the honda odyssey. :)

Here is a mail I got back from the dealer in Irvine California.

"I can asure you for the year 2004 there will not be a STi
wagon
in America.
I just called Subaru of America to re verify what I am telling you and
they
also told me
that Fugi is not making a STi wagon. Maybe a couple years down the
road
but nothing
has ever been said about a wagon"

I think I will buy my wife a car first (Scion XB) and wait until Subaru makes some official announcement.

Come on Subaru~ bless us with thy STI wagon!!

JDM STi's review by Best Motoring

Ha ha ha!

It's alright nathan.

Well, this proves my point.
STI's effort shouldn't be limited just to WRX sedan. Granted... Legacy is still a sedan and shares lots of parts with WRX... well, so does Forester!!! Like I said, STI exists in Japan to push the level of current Subaru's line up. they have STI Forester for Pete's sake!!!

I am glad sedan fans are getting an excellent car. But please, don't let your biased opinion prevent us wagon lovers to get a chance at getting STI version of WRX. Us family men need some fun too!!!
