I have not heard of the STi wagon coming at all. I would imagine it has to do with overall sales of the WRX showing the sedan having the majority. I like wagons too, but would still choose the sedan in the STi form..wagon for the WRX.

chawklit,
the wagon is heavier..but not by much. I would consider the wagon to be different. It would have to look pretty cool. Oh, and another thing, you could create an AWESOME sleeper.

I've actually thought about this with my STi after a few years:
RS or carbon fiber paint-match hood (no scoop), FMIC in a gunmetal/black or subdued color, a sort of matching color mesh up front, debadged, with a simple OEM wing. I think it would be an amazing sleeper even for the sedan. Any thoughts?

Yeah the wagon is not much heavier than the sedan..so not a big deal, but I don't think the US is ready for a $30K+ high performance wagon..of course there is the S4 Avant..so I could be way off. I still think the wagon only makes up a very small percentage of sales.

Ta!

I know I will put down a deposit for a STI Wagon!!!

I will be honest with ya!
I never dreamed of having a 4+door car. But, After marriage and having two dogs, G35 or 350Z is not gonna happen anytime soon in my life. I have to think a head!! BUt, I really don't want a boring car. That's why I got my 2002 WRX wagon. and it has been a pleasure having my trusty wagon around. (Well, there were some problems with the car itself such as tranny prob. But....)

The sedan is awesome. But, Subaru should know that there is a plenty of people who are looking for a practical car. But, deep in their heart, they want more than jsut a family car.

WRX wagon sales number should speak for itself. SOA was surprised that the wagon was doing better than they expected here in US. So, why chicken out now?

Bring it on, Baby!!!!

Please! please! Bring out the STI Wagon!!!

Boy, I dunno. Don't get me wrong, I've seen some good looking WRX wagons and for the size, it would be great.

But a hyper-performance wagon? The Corvette drivers won't believe the claims we'll give em a run for their money in the regular STi, they'll piss their pants if we say that in a wagon.

Come on Clone!!

Why not? I actually find it humorous!!
When I got my WRX wagon back in 2001, noone really knew about WRX (except hardcore fans like us). It was a blast to ditch most of performance wanna be cars trying to go around me on the free way. The look on their faces were just priceless.

I even had a guy who chased me till the red light and pulled up next to me in his fixed up Del Sol to ask me what kind of car I am driving (I had my S U B A R U sign taken off. Yes! I am one of those people).

Besides, WRX wagon feels more like a hatch back than a "Station Wagon".

Ah... the roof rack...

When I got my WRX wagon, I tried to find a shop that will remove the roof rack for me. Well, Subaru dealers won't do it. And other shops were charging crazy amount of money for it. Cause you have to patch the hole on the roof and do the touch up apin t and stuff before putting on the new modlings.

I am trying to figure out how I can order new WRX wagon without a roof rack ( I crashed my 2002 wagon.... long story....). But, it seems impossible to order your car that way. I dont' understand why. Japanese WRX comes without the roof rack. It's an option. Why can't they build one without it? I mean... if I lay down a deposit and locate a vin number of a car that's being built, can't they skip that one step in the assembly line?
