Ok,
Now this isn't a topic of which one is fastest, etc. I want to know what everyone thinks in terms of:

build quality
modibility
Looks
Performance
resale
price

etc, etc

I've always loved the Supra TT 6spd, but have never really thought of it as a viable option. What is everyones' opinion? Any quirks with the MkIV Supra TT?

I just sent you a PM. You can't beat the Supra for the money and the reliable performance you can easily get. Only problem is if you have to deal with winters. It is not a snow friendly vehicle, even with the traction control. I have owned 2 Supras now. My first one was my daily driver for a few years. I put almost 100k miles on it and did not have one problem, not even a recall. As far as I am concerned the STi and Supra are kind of in different leagues. Stock for stock I think they would be close, STi having more of an advantage off the line but the Supra being stronger the higher the speeds get. STi - 4dr sedan with AWD. Supra - 2dr purpose built sports car with RWD. I feel the STi is more practical. Resale on Supras is amazing, sometimes crazy the prices I see for them. If you are selling, great, if you are buying not so great. The thing that helpd is how strong and over engineered the inline 6 is. You can get about 50hp just disconnecting a couple hoses and with a dp prolly get closer to 100hp. You can easily add 150hp for under $1k and the inline 6 and stock fuel system can handle it. As far as looks, some like it, some hate it. You definitely don't see a lot of them which is nice. I still sometimes get asked what it is. I personally, although maybe a little biased, think it looks beautiful. I can't wait for a new MKV Supra.

i've had a few good friends with mkivs. they're awesome cars. here's my take:

-the supra is way easier to mod because of the aftermarket support. i don't think the impreza will ever have the kind of aftermarket support that the supra has now.

-as for potential, i'd say subaru doesn't focus on the same things that toyota did with the mkiv. as far as drag racing, there's no way the STi would ever touch the supra (i assume we're talking about cars with plenty6 of mods here). in an autocross or rally, the tables turn.

-pricing is something i'm a little bummed about. since the rice and the ridiculous came out, supras have gone through the roof. it used to be you could find a mkiv tt in good shape for well under $20K, now it seems like they're all ~$25K. they're the car of the moment, so if you want one i'd advise waiting a year or two. resale will screw you if you buy one right now.

-another thought on pricing... i see a lot of supra owners that have a flawed theory on value. their formula is:
(original purchase price) + (all $ spent on mods) + (labor, even if the did it themselves).
i've seen plenty of people asking more for their supra than what they put into it. i don't get it.

-as for aesthetics, i think the supra is gorgeous. i have to be honest though, i've never understood why people ask about looks in posts like this. if you like it, you like it; who cares what other people think.

-there are other factors. snow. insurance. mileage. and all mkivs are used at this point. these are things to think about if you're serious.

i dig the supra. it's way faster than a z32, way more reliable than an fd, way more affordable than an nsx, and way more available than an r34. it's definitely the cream of the japanese supercar crop.

Yes, this is true, I'm just trying to see others' opinions. I think the car is gorgeous myself. I've always liked it, but it is completely different than the STi..in MANY respects.

Yep, I had a MKIV supra also. Like MKIVSupra said nothign can touch the Supra except in wintry weather - not so much fun! If winter weather is not in the equation, pick one up and I guarrantee you will not be disappointed!
