Is the US spec STi gonna get a "bulletproof" 6spd. tranny? I heard the US EVO8 is getting the "bulletproof" 5spd.? any confirmation on that.

From some of the media releases, the tranny is quoted as being "all new".

From the impreza.subaru.com STi tranny pic....

All new, short-throw, close-ratio six-speed manual transmission is exclusively teamed to the turbocharged and intercooled 2.5 liter DOHC boxer engine of the STi.
Whether that is all new to the USDM or really overall, who knows. Some site had ratios quoted, but they didn't even have a 6th gear  I haven't seen any offical specs.

Either way, being the STi tranny, I'd imagine it will be stronger than the WRX 5spd.

Well guys I am running 430 HP to the wheels and my 6 speed is working great. I have been drag racing and road racing for 6 months now. I opened it up to see how it was doing and NOT A SCRATCH!!! This 6 speed is the same for JDM STI, US STI, RA and S202. Now if you intent to buy the 6 speed for your standard WRX be prepared to set your self back about $10,000, this is because you will be replacing the entire drivetrain. I also recomend an STI tranny mount unless you want you tranny moving allover the place while driving. THe reason is because the 6speed is much heavier than the 5 speed.
