OK this is for those few lucky enough to actually hear the STi running. What does the car sound like?

I have the dealer optional "STi-esque" muffler on my '02 WRX and I love the sound of it - amplified with a wicked growl. Sort of sounds like a scoobie-sport muffler. I have seen the up-close shots of the muffler on the STi, and it looks like the standard muffler on the WRX but with a chromed tip with STi etched in it. It doesn't look like the stainless muffler I put on my WRX.

So does the STi sound like a standard WRX, a WRX with this "STi-esque"/scoobie sport muffler, or does it sound as mean as the car looks. Got to have the sound to match the look - this means non-buzzy nor increadibly loud like you tend to see (or hear anyway) on these silly little civics with the clear tailight lenses and spoilers that look like they were hand made by someone with a mental disability.

I know that it definetly is NOT a stock WRX muffler with STi stamped into it. I think it may be the same exhaust that you have on your WRX, though.

If it is not mean enough for me (which I measure by my current Stromung on my RS), then I will be going Turbo-back...

the sound is a definite deep growl. sounds really nice. you won't be dissapointed.

until you hear the real thing you can go to Austrailian website and hear the sti.

Just an FYI, the aussie STi is the 2.0L so the US version should be a bit more gnarly, which in my estimation is a good thing.

Just heard the Australian STi sound bite trough my Bose 901's powered by 2 Carvers M-1T in monoblock configuration (1K watts RMS per channel)... WOW ! He, he, he, that will have to do until my STi arrives (# 1 on dealers list). Thanks for link !
