I just ordered my second 02 WRX yesterday. I also asked about the STI. The guy I ordered it from is the manager at Delray Beach Subaru in Delray Beach Florida. He said late 2002 early 2003 release time for the WRX. He also informed me that the price will start around/above $30K. He did say it was coming. And he was certain of it. Hopefully things turn out to be true :smile:

I was just talking to a sales woman at Van Bortel Subaru yesterday, to confirm my place on the waiting list.

Good news - they have heard "unofficially" the car will definately be coming here.

Bad news - it will be late 2003 as a 2004 model year.

Hope they're wrong on the timing...

Well. I was kinda ticked off, as I asked them to start the list last May, and was told they would. I called January 2 to make sure I was on it, and I WASN'T. A friend of mine that I told about the dealer over the summer was! The salesman I talked to last May wasn't there any more!

But, there were only three people on the list and my name has now been added. Since I'm fourth, I'm sure that won't delay my getting a car. I went there the day before the WRX was released, and they had 12 on the lot, all sold of course. Since they're the biggest dealer in the country, they get cars before most of the other dealers.

I'm number five right after you. I e-mailed them about it and they said they believe chances are pretty good for me to still get one. Do you guys think I should stick with them or go to another dealership just to be safe?

Here's my guess. You will get one.

Rumors have it ~1700 cars to come over. If VB were to get only 5 STis, that would be 3/10ths of one percent of the total production run. No way is the largest dealer in the country gonna get that few cars if they want 'em.

Even if they only brought 500 cars, it'll still only be 1% of the production run. You'll get one.

If you buy one from them, I'll pick you up at the airport. :smile: (Actually, the dealer will do that for you.)

I am hoping that they bring more than 1700 cars. It would be nice to see more because that means dealers are less likely to get the car and jack the price up 4K over invoice. Just my thoughts...

Well, they're pricing strategy for the STi and all their soobs is really cool that's what attracted me to get on the list there.
They're charging just 400 over invoice...that's great!
