i have been going over this very question in my head for about 6 months. i am 17, turning 18 in july. i have about 200,000 dollars in the bank from my dad's death. im going to college next year and i need a new car. i have had my mind set on a 04 wrx, but then i found out about the STi. so i have a decision to make, the 2004 wrx or the STi. i am about 15th on the list for a STi in MN. i still have a couple of months to figure this out. i cant make up my mind. so i thought if anyone could help me you guys could give me some help.

thank you

What would you now want an STi over a WRX? Is it because you may have to wait to get it? What are you looking for in a car? The WRX is going to ride better and has more "luxury" features available - such as sunroof, heated mirrors, rear pass through. The STi, on the other hand, is a no compromises speed demon from hell.

Get WRX ...
1. If you are satisify with the speed and acceleration ...
2. If you can withstand the feeling of a STi passing beside you on the road.
3. If you don't plan to pay too much money later on to make an "STi replica"
4. If you think that the $$$ is such a huge difference and does not worth the higher grade

Get STi
1. If you think WRX can't satisify your speeding taste buds...
2. If you can wait a while, save more $$ up, then go for the higher grade.
3. If you like all the gadgets that comes with the car (STi steering wheel, shift knobs, short shifter, shift lights, red glowing dash, blue sport seats, big brembo brakes (the use and look of it), 17" wheel .. and think they all worth the money ...

well .. probably these are more of my personal thoughts, I'm still debating myself too but I think STi would be my final answer. I know I will be unhappy with a WRX one day, blaming myself "I should've waited longer for the car next to me" ....afterall , I love both cars inside out and for sure I know I'll end up with either one of them...

I always use this point to debate ... if it is few years back, looking at where I'm standing right now, I think I'll be happier that I'm still stuck on a loan with an Intrega Type R, than an Intrega GSR ...

How much are we looking at here? @@

the STi is DEFFINETLY worth the price jump. being young though, we have to respect the STi. it is very quick and you have to make sure you dont abuse it and toss it into a tree or a wall with you in it. not that you will but its something to think about. some will say this car is just too fast for a young driver however, as i have done, you can go through classes and track days and training to make your self an exception to the people who say an 18 yr old is just too young of a driver for this super car. If I were you, STi ALL THE WAY, 100% no doubt

Buy a used wrx or cheaper car if you can-$200,000 seems like a lot of money at your age, but it will go quickly. A much as I love the STi, and all cars, other things are way more important, and that money will go fast if you use it for school, etc. You will have plenty of time to get an awesome car later when you have a steady income. I know I am an old fart, but I would say put that money away, pretend that you don't have it, use it only when needed. Try and get by without it, if you invest it, it will be a million plus in 20 years!
