Ok....we all know that the STi will show up next year. The info I would like to have is what options will be available. I don't really care if DCCD comes or not. i will just be happy to get an STi. What I would like to have as an option are the dash gauges like the ones below :

If the guages are not an option, I will just buy them. They would not be for show, but to just make sure I am not breaking anything. All the other stuff is not needed to me. The hood scoop is a little over the top, but then again, I am an old man (comparatively), and the STi will be my mid-life crisis car with the lic. plate saying either gramps, or cntdrve. Comments?

Latest STi info

If that is what the gauge package is going to look like, then count me out. It looks even worse than the one offered for the WRX. What a mod looks like is very important with this car as it is a work of art. And as far as practicallity goes, I run my WRX in SOLO II (autocross)e me, if I had the gauge pod on the dash, I would never even notice it - no time to look at it and having way too much fun to care about it. Unmodified these cars are hard to hurt. Though the gauge pod may be useful with SOLO I (road racing) if you are a serious competitor. I could not in good conscience install such an expensive and ugly part on my STi when it comes. But to each his own.

That's a ghastly looking thing...I'll keep the clock thank you...the STi comes with a clock, right??

Even the pillar pod setup is less gaudy, but I'd probably not get that...although I wouldn't mind having a turbo gauge on the steering column...

My idea is this (nobody steal it, I may need to sell it to keep the site running :D)

A flip out LCD screen headunit that will display not only the station you are on or navigation information but GUAGES as well. You could have ANY guage that the ECU "sees", which pretty much means everything. You could reconfigure them at any time.

A little bit of my techgeekiness showing through... ;)

As far as analog gauges go, I like the single-din idea. I already have a real nice Alpine 1din HU that I was planning to swap into my STi anyway.

The LCD display gauges would be cool for a visual factor, but I have to say I would trust readings from physical gauges installed at the correct reading areas more than the info the ECU gives/receives. After playing with an SAFC which is purpose built and seeing the error correction it has, I'd be skeptical of what a custom job like that could do.

But hey, it would be tight to see.

The GT-R R34 has a LCD screen like that, at least as an option. If anyone's seen that Top Gear video, it shows the screen displaying all kinds of stuff as digital horizontal bar graphs; oil temp., boost pressure, injector pulse width/duty cycle, etc.

Not to mention the 360 degree g-meter. That was cool.

The gauge pod shown in the picture is a Defi unit, not Subaru. The Subaru setup for the STi will be the same as the WRX, unfortunately.

WARNING: SHAMELESS PLUG AHEAD

However, the gauge pod that I'm working on currently (finally got all the final production parts finalized) will fit both the WRX and STi. It'll give you larger, easier to read gauges in what I feel is a much more "classic" look.

I should have pics up on the web site by tonight or tomorrow morning.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's DIN?

What do you guys think about a Heads-Up Display like they got on the Z06 vette? That would be pretty cool...along with reverse indiglo gauges

I think the HUD would be a good feature, though i'm a techie and I love all that gadgety stuff....especially with that forward looking road analysis radar that they have now where the road lines show up with the HUD, night rallies would be forever changed. Again, my $0.02. :p

Here's that email from my ISP

The pic at the top of this page is a gauge set that is made by STi. There is the STi logo on each gauge. I have the exact thing in my car, except with the black gauge background. The gauges are oil temp., boost and oil pressure. Very important. The beautiful thing about these gauges aside from their appearance is that they come with a computer. Using this computer is connected to the gauges and you can set peak levels, you can record and replay levels and alter critical levels so that the gauges warn you if they are becoming critical by flashing a red LED. Excellent quality and they are definitely the best working and looking gauges I've seen for the STi.

MKIVSupra is likely correct. If they say STi on them, Subaru is likely reselling Defi gauges overseas. I have yet to find a Subaru part number for the gauges shown, but they are all over the web as Defi parts. Either way, it's a sweet setup. Unfortunately, very expensive to retrofit because of the computer.
