chawklit,
I agree with you I will not accept the UK numbers...

One thing is for sure..if the thing comes out with UK numbers..that's fine by me as long as SOA doesn't skimp on the 6-spd, brembos, seats, and the diffs....this is MUCH more important to me than the power b/c we all know how easy it is to add power to this car.

If we get anything that can not easily be "fixed" I will not be paying anything over $30k for it, especailly any dealer markups. I am expecting a full STi with a little emissions limiting stuff. Maybe no tinted windows, but otherwise it should be the same, including HIDs.

MKIVSupra,
Well, one thing I don't think we'll see is the HIDs. Even the Euro-spec STi doesn't have HIDs.

Everything else should stay the same. I talked with someone at COBB and they said they didn't think SOA would bring the 6-spd over to the US b/c it would be to hard/expensive to get it certified for our market. I don't see how. If anything beefing up the 5-spd would be more work for them IMO.

Well, I guess I could suffer without HIDs. The big thing is performace oriented stuff. No 6spd would really disappoint me, especailly all the problems I hear people having with the 5spd after moding the WRX. I would be really suprised if we don't get that. In fact the 6spd was one of the least things I was worried about.

Yeah I couldn't see why we would get the 6-spd. The HIDs..not biggie. If I deem it necessary then I can always add it on later for about $500.

It comes down to performance stuff like you said...no 6-spd, lackof power, etc then it becomes"$3X,xxx for a Subaru." If it comes atleast like the Euro STi then I don't mind..:D

If the NA STi does not have a 6 speed; I will be looking for a different car. Call me fickle, but I want it all. I am willing to pay for it mind you.

I think I agree with what 91TB78 meant to write.?.

Yeah, you know what I meant! ;)

ScoobyDo,
I know what you mean. I don't think I will get the STi if it doesn't come pretty much EXACT to Euro-specs, especially w/o the 6-spd...I will get something later.

The 350Z is a nice alternative but the reason I want the STi so much is b/c where I live the weather gets bad and the roads are VERY, VERY curvy and have steep grades so I need something that can handle it with ease. Not too mention I love fast sedans and my wife and I need a 4-door. The 2-door Accord I have it nice, but a pain at times.

my dad drives a new maxima, and the G35 is definitely not worth the money. The maxima GLE (base model) has seats that aren't buckets, but hold you very nicely. and while it mainly is used with an automatic, 29,000 for a car that is the exact same thing as the Z and the G35 except for the front drive understeer. And it is the size of a bmw 5, what more do you need? in my opinion, the maxima is the bang for the buck car to go with if the impreza is still to small for you. And the new altima is a tad smaller than the maxima, has the same powerplant, just detuned a little, and for the price of a wrx you have a 245 bhp car with the room of the legacy. while it is fwd, add a couple of suspension mods from stillen, a new ecu and you have a car that will out handle and perform the maxima for less. I take back my previous statement, the altima is the best bang for the buck and the maxima is next. the wrx would be my bang for the buck if i wasn't a lineman for my football team. I sat in at the NY auto show, and it was just too small. I would not want to be in one for bery long amounts of time. I just have to say (a: because i can't afford it or b: because i hate leather on a hot august day, C: i've never had a car with leather) that any infiniti isn't worth the money periiod!

G35 coupe??? i hope you mean coupe, i was refering to the coupe. it is a 2+2 version of the Z. but i hate the old feel of infiniti interiors. and what the hell did they do to the G35s (sedan and coupe) rearend??? its very akin to a loading dock at a warehouse.... look at the Z and the maxima (and the base model is the GXE not the GLE)... both are notably stylish. not the loading dock format ala infiniti.

Heated Seats

I think it comes down to what drivetrain you are looking for. Personally, I am tired of FWD..they drive nice, but they take away from the power figures and high power has bad torque steer...not good.

I like rwd cars, but in really curvy roads and inclement weather they are jut too unsure...I know b/c I own both a 535 bMW and a Honda Accord...The Accord is the bad weather car/daily commuter and the 535 is the touring car/sports car.

I think the Altima is a good buy, but really fwd just doesn't do much for me unless its a Type-R.

Sea of Dunes,
you really didn't fit well in the WRX? I used to be a D Lineman and even an O tackle and I have never had a problem..but I like the feel of smaller cars. I am 6'4" and I weigh 235 now...used to weigh past 270 and still fit well...

i am a o tackle and d tackle. I also am the kicker (ever seen that combo? :D ) anyways, im 5'6, and 200 pounds of muscle. i have to buy custom suits etc. When i sat in the wrx i had a toin of trouble one, staying comfortable with my legs, there was just not enough room between the steering wheel and my seat. I do have "tree trunks legs" but i had to raise the steering wheel both when i got in and out. The other thing was the WRX's bucket like seats, are meant for someone with a much thinner frame than mine. I had to wedge my back into the seat in order to get snug. Other than those two minor deatails i love the car. I also have never owned a small car so... Taurus, Maxima, Grand Caravan, Grand Cherokee. I find the maxima's setup fine, in fact it handled very well for a fwd'er at STPR going to and from the stages was wet dirt roads that were ultra slick. However i must say anyone in a subaru or SUV wanted to pass us, we were doing about 25 and i was pleased. I think the altima with a manual transmission, and alot of stillen/nismo parts is a much better buy than any of the other 3.5L renditions Nissan/Infiniti has managed to come up with. While i love the 3.5L i believe nissan and infiniti need some different engines such as honda/acura are doing. There practically no difference in the G35, Altima 3.5, Maxima, 350Z, to me. Yes they handle better, but the G35 and the Z are practically the sam epackage for more. just like the A4 and the Passat. You pay for luxury which to me is just added weight to both the car and your bill.

Sea,
I've seen the combo before...not very often, but I think on my hs team we had a lineman kicking too...probably b/c of the mass behind him.

I know what you mean about leg size...mine are decent sized now, but were really big and made it difficult to fit anywhere! One thing with the Euro-STi (never test drove a Euro WRX) but the seat moves up and down (I think to accomodate a helmet in races). I never had problems. Sure, the seats where snug, but just so to handle the lateral gs.

One thing I will point out comparing the Altima, the 350Z and the G35 is although they share the same engine, they are all different. Even the Altima compared to the G35 SEDAN are waaaayy off b/c of drivetrains. The G35 coupe and the 350Z are more easily comparable, but still there are some solid sport differences and of course the 350Z doesn't have much (if any?) backseat compared to the 2+2 G35 sport coupe. If you have the opportunity to drive a really nicely setup rwd car compared to a fwd car you will see how they each have their pros and cons. The fwd have always felt more reassuring to me, but that was before i understeered into a guardrail...

all i was trying to say was that the altima is a much better car for the money than any of the others. Although the altima 3.5 is close to the maxima price so, the maxima might be the best bang for the buck.

I've only been driving for two years, but from what i've experienced, the front drive's are fine for the kind of driving i do. Here in New Jersey, the speedlimits are 65 and everyone does 75 (if you don't you get passed). The roads here are setup for much higher speed driving than the roads where i used to live in Pennsylvania.

as for the seating requirements, i test drove a sentra a while ago and it had enough room, but the impreza, while it was only a breif period of time i was in it, i found i couldn't get comfortable in it. I guess i'll have to settle with a B4 should they ever bring it over :D . I guess i should give the impreza another chance though, being that i spend so much time in this forum.

I'm not trying to bust you over a car. I think they are all really good cars, and IMO the Altima is the BEST fwd sedan on the market...something I would get my wife. Heck, and I know I wouldn't turn it down.

Sorry if I came across like the Altima is a bad choice or something...I think the whole line in Nissan/Inifinity are really good choices no matter how you work it. And another thing, it does indeed come down to the driver, so what fits best for you may not fit best for me and vice versa. Thanks for posting on the forum.
