This has probably been noted before, but the forums have been slow for a while so...

The popular theory has the US getting a UK spec STi some day. However, if you look at the torque and horsepower figures for the UK WRX versus our WRX, you'll see that we fare a little better. 215 Horsepower over there versus 227 here: about 5.5% higher.

So, is it reasonable to think we'd get a 5.5% better STi as well? At around 275bhp, that sweetens the deal a little, doesn't it?

Thoughts?

Comes out to 275, or if you round it up, 276HP. Very interesting... :)

The US Spec STi might have the horsepressure that the JDM STi is SUPPOSED to have. Of course, we all know the magical 276 number in Japan is a load of crap... :D

My question is that in the UK, the Subaru team was only able to get 261 hp out of the ej25 for the UK edition, but Mitsubishi for the lancer evo was able to get 320 hp out of the 4g63 or something like that for the Evo VII RS Sprint. Now why would two similar horsepower cars in japan be vastly different figures for the UK?

First off, the STi uses the EJ20, not the EJ25. But I've been wondering about that HP difference for a while. Why does the STi get detuned for Europe but the Evo doesn't? And if the Evo is detuned, is it an actual 276 hp instead of the JDM "276"? If so, why would the STi go from JDM "276" all the way down to actual 261 instead of actual 276?

Also, keep in mind the fastest 0-60 time for the USDM WRX: 5.4 from Car & Driver (or was it Motor Trend?). If they're getting slower times from a STi, they just suck as drivers.

Arrgg, too many numbers...
