So I have a 2007 STi Limited, and I had a question about my factory Enkie wheels. Now I know the older STi's have BBS wheels and to poweder coat them would tipically weeken the wheel, but my question is are my wheels on my Limited just painted hyper silver? I ask because if so I want to have them re-sprayed professionaly in a semi-gloss black. Any suggestions or input would be appreciated, thanks.
Nick, don't paint them black. I had black wheels on my last car, and to be honest, you can't see them. You can't see any of the shape/depth of the rim.
That's on a white car as well... I can't even imagine on a black car.
IMO, keep them the way they are, or paint them a darker silver or bronze (depending if you got UGM or SWP). Otherwise, you're going to spend a bunch of money to make your wheels semi-invisible.
They are the same wheels that came as an option on the spec c and also standard on the 2005 v limited sti in japan. I have a set of the gold ones which are a lighter gold color than the usdm bbs wheels. At one time i had 5 sets i were trying to sell on this forum but no one believed they were real. hahahah. idiots.
Does anyone have some specs on those Enkeis used on the Limited? I like the look and color a lot on those rims but for me, Quality/Performance > Looks.
+1 on what everyone else said...dont paint them black...you wont be able to see or appreciate any of the texture/volume of the wheels...get some other dark color...dark grey...maybe gunmetal...i personally like bronze - to me it seems like a darker gold...
