Hey all,

Just wondering what engine we were getting in the 04 model STi that we are all expecting? All reference that I can find on our site seems to say EJ20. But hitting another site that was referenced in another post (I'm sorry I can't remember who made the initial post. So whomever made it you get credit) But the site was www.spdusa.com and in the the section about WRX engines comparing Jspec WRX and STi motors and their non Jspec counterparts they were using engine designations like EJ205 and EJ207. EJ207 being the current J-spec STi engine and how much better it was compaired to the EJ205 which is what the non-Jspec WRX (U.S. WRX) currently has. So I was curious as to which engine our STi is suppost to get. Sorry if this has been answered in another post I must have missed it.

Hey all,

One more question. My WRX had the check engine light come on and when I took it in the code was for a misfire in the #3 cylinder. While hitting one of the numerous links I hit one provided by "alfredob1" for www.altasports.net He provided the site because of the pictures of the STi keys. But hitting the engine section unter the Perrin part there was information that the current EJ20 engine is infamous for leaning out the #3 cylinder and that I could purchase new fuel rails to correct the problem. I was just curious if my misfire could be attributed to that and if so will the new STi have the same problem. I've been on this site for about a year now and this is the first time I've heard of #3 cylinder problems. Has anyone else had any problems with the #3 cyclinder, or have information if this problem carried over to the STi? And if so would the fuel rails advertised fix the problem since the fuel delivery system will probably be the same as the WRX?

Thanks

This is important enough that you should make it a new post with its own heading...would be interesting to see peeps feedback about #3 cylinder. I know a certain cylinder blew a lot in Europe in the Ver 5's especially on autobahn driving...high speed, sustained boost over several hours is not good for these motors...
