In the January 2002 issue of Popular Mechanics on page 45, there is a quick mention of the "2004 Subaru WRX STi" under the column "ASIA SPY REPORT". The article basically says "With all the success of the WRX in the states, our sources say the STi gets the green light for '04. Expect the power to be 280hp" They then go on to say "Expect the limited-run supersedan to have Porsche 911-like performance."
My dealer is still saying expect the car here in October 2002. I really want to believe him, but I think the announcement is all we will get this October. He tells me that the pre-orders sent to SUBARU mean something good. I suppose I'll keep holding my breath...
