rumors r this is the new turbo..
Is this good or bad news?

VF30 is not a new turbo. I cannot imagine this is the turbo the STi has. The JDM STi had the VF34 before the twin scroll turbo. I am thinking the STi would have either the VF34 or a VF35.

I think we know for sure that the turbo will not be twin scroll. No *need* with the extra 500cc of displacement.

WRX vs S4?

Some very good sources at NASIOC are saying the turbo was in fact an IHI unit, but that he didn't know what kind. He said it did not appear to be any previous turbo, as in it was all new.

We'll see I guess. I can't believe someone hasn't looked and leaked the info yet.
