Ok I was up and decided to calculate the allocation of the STi to dealerships across the US.

By going to the Subaru web site I found out that there are 583 dealerships in the US. Poor Hawaii is listed as not having a dealership :(. If we get an initial shipment of 500 STi's in May/June then each dealership will be lucky to get one and 83 dealerships are sol. I also calculated that if we only get 1700 STi's this year then all things being equal, each dealership gets 2.9 cars (I'd hate to get 90% of a car). Of course if we get 3600 cars each dealership would get 6.2 cars.

I'm 8th on a list... I hope all things aren't equal and that Subaru cranks those things out.

Add in to that calculation that while partial cars won't be given out ( ), some dealers will get more than others based on past WRX sales. A majority of those babies would probably go to the coasts where sales are huge.

However, at the same time....if all of these sold order forms really do what they are supposed to do, all of that is irrelevant and we'll get the cars as the list is fulfilled.

I would bet that you will have dealerships that get 5 to 10, and some that only get 1 to 5, and some will not get any at all. Some of these dealerships can't even sell WRX's, so why would they get STi's? I know some dealerships that are like this in rural mountain Colorado.

Just to add- if you want the best chance at a STi, I would say that you should look at dealers that are very high volume, especially in WRX's. Most of the dealers on the official list are, and I know for a fact that Flatirons, for example, is way up there in the top of all dealers. Irvine, Mastro, Bloomington, are also high volume dealers I believe.
