When it was announced that there would not be any stereo or speakers installed, was it noted if there was going to be wiring in place to support the installation of a head unit and some door speakers? Slighly unrelated, but does this thing power power door locks, windows, and mirrors? It would seem the Euro spec one does in fact have power mirrors, from the switch on the center console pictures (or is the DCCD???) And since I don't see any grab handles for rolling down windows I guess its safe to assume that we're being issued power windows and doors? Wouldn't it have made sense to save weight by making everything manual?

From what I saw and heard, the STi will have the same power convieniences of the current WRX - i.e. power windows, door locks, and mirrors. Also A/C if that is your next question. As far as the radio goes, I have heard that the car would be pre-wired for sound system, but I have not heard any concrete evidence of this. I am guessing it would be the same double-din opening in the dash for the face-plate and door pockets for speakers as the current WRX. I imagine the same 6-disc changer stereo out of the current WRX would be the option available for the STi.

I was in Detroit this past Tuesday morning to see the STi. I was able to talk with a few SOA representatives. I was told that the radio wiring is intact and ready for dealer installation. As far as the cruise control goes. It is listed as a standard feature. The list I have was part of the 2003 News Media Information kit I received.

Other STi features I understand will include:

Super-Sport ABS braking system with a lateral g-sensor
Faster ratio engine speed sensing power steering
Driver-Controlled Center Differential
Directional summer performance tires
BBS wheels available in a silvery grey
Lighter than regular WRX rear glass
4 HID headlights
Driver controlled water spray
Larger than WRX hood scoop

I actually spoke with the guy who was responsible for the black floor mats in the STi. I asked him why they did not match the STi only blue carpet. He stated that the black mats were from a WRX and may stay that way into production.

Also there was not a STi strut tower brace in the front engine bay. I asked one of the SOA reps about this. He stated that the redesigned superstructure in the 2004 made the brace useless. I then inquired about a sunroof option. I was told that the cross brace in that area remains for the 2004 STi.

Other than the 2.5 liter and 300HP, I was really surprised to see how different this car is than the 2002. It is a huge step in the right direction.

Now if the delivery date could only move up to February, I would be happy. :p

Woah....silvery grey BBSs offered?????? I'm a huge fan of the gold and all, but I personally don't think a WR blue WRX can look better than with a gunmetal looking rim on it.

Damn...gunna have to consider that.....the STi tradition gold or JDM looking gunmetal.

I'm with you about the wheels. If SOA doesn't bring the gold, but instead bring a plain silver then I am 100% for sure getting the stock BBS powdercoated a gunmetal! That would be bad!

Silver and Gold

Hmm, I'd have to see it to believe it..but make some sense. The white does look good with the gold though..in a JDM way. I suppose the rest of the public probably wouldn't think so. I'm almost betting the color of the wheels will be like color of the car..your choice.

i like the gold white combo too its odd but it functions :) for me id drive with as much gold and pink as possible because I want to stay as close to the STi spirit that we have been robbed of in the US for so long :)

Tire Weight

I have heard that people will be able to choose their color of wheels regardless of the car's color choice. :)

I'm thinking White/Gold or Blue/Gold...

ahh i agree, ever since seeing that white gold spec C it looks very cool indeed my choice is getting tougher by the minute (ive been very set on blue and gold) but now im uncertain...
Yeah, I know what you mean. I was so set on the Blue Black Mica (black), but now with the BBS wheels I'm leaning towards Blue, especially since I think its going to be easier to keep clean than black.

So, now its down to these two colors..period.

I'm thinking White/Gold or Blue/Gold...
JJ, my thoughts are blue/gold for you for sure. Why? B/c you have been anxiously awaiting the STi in the states for how many year?! 2, 3, 4 years?! Get the original and WRC replica blue...

My sales guy contacted me today regarding wheels. He wanted to know if I wanted gold or gunmetal BBS wheels. I asked him if he meant gunmetal or silver and he said Subaru called them gunmetal. I then asked if they were indeed BBS wheels and he said that's what Subaru told him. Since I'm ordering a silver car, I went with the gunmetal wheels. I hope this answers 2 questions we had: 1 - Silver or gunmetal and 2 - BBS or something else? Keeping my fingers crossed...

alfredob1,
which color are you thinking blue?

I think that's great. If I were to go with a silver STi it would be gunmetal all the way.

white would be gold
black would be gunmetal
blue would be gold

My decision is gonna be between blue and black...argh..
