ok i was wondering what "one step colder" and "two steps colder" mean...sorry if its in the wrong section mods feel free to move ...

The higher the number, the cooler the plug, or the more heat deterring the plug is. For example, if ur running 7's, a heat range colder plug is 8, and 2 steps cooler are 9's. I used to have denso's I used in my 8 and they were like 10's or sumthing really cold.

It allows the plug to transfer more of its heat into the head.

...and they are normally used as the power level of the motor is increased. They help prevent detonation. You can easily go too cold at which point you are hurting the efficiency of the motor.
