WRX STI

Anyone knows? I mean the car doesn't have automatic headlights or anything, why does it have a solar sensor?

I think it has something to do with the auto a/c.

I assume so since it was introduced in the AC section in owner's manual. But I can't imagin what it does.

Anyone replaced the shifter/knob?

My current car (non-STi) automatically turns on the inside fan when the cabin gets too hot. Maybe this sensor is for the same thing?

The solar sensor is for the semi-auto climate control that the STi has. In order to maintain the set temperature it takes readings from the in cabin sensor ( little grille on control display) the solar sensor ( when the sun is shining the temp feels less cool so it compensates) and the ambient sensor located in the front of the car. Thats climate control in a nutshell
Hope this helps
