there must be a few graphic artists on the list. the forum has a polling capability, so it's be easy to vote on favorite designs. jj needs to give his blessing before we can do more than talk.

What would make that you would NOT buy the STi?

I used to go to NASIOC everyday, right after I would check in here, but now with all the posting lately and info here about the STi, I really have no reason to go over there and haven't in a while. I might once in a while to check on the local scene but that is about it.

Yes, this could and should be the PREMIER STi site. People go to NASIOC for Impreza stuff, but for the STi this is the site...
agreed. until the sti arrives and we gain experience with it and the aftermarket starts to grow, i'll continue to visit nasioc for info on general things that would apply to both cars (i.e. stereo fitment, aftermarket gauge pods and installation, basic maintenence issues, yada yada).

like you said, this will by default be THE sti site. and every car site must have a faq. when i was active in the sr20de (se-r) community, i did their faq. it was a lot of work for a car and community that had been around for 4+years at the time. as soon as the car arrives, the questions are going to start pouring in. so maybe, with the sti being totally new, building a faq might be easier. (???) any of the moderators know if the FAQ link to the left can support a comprehensive faq? (i know nothing about the capabilities/limitations of phpbb, postnuke, etc.)

Believe me, my intention is that this will be the place to go for STi information. You want Impreza or other Subaru information, than Nasioc is the place- but THIS will be THE PREMIER, BEST, MOST EXCEPTIONAL STi site. Period. I have never intended less and will continue to make this happen with your help.

I am thinking of imprezawrxsti.com branded stuff. I am thinking stickers, shirts, etc. This stuff will probably come out closer to the release of the car. I want to do some stuff that other sites do not- some creativity if you will. Any ideas??

I am also looking into other revenue generation ideas to keep this site alive such as advertising, sponsorships and the like. I see a dedicated server in our near future, so I must plan for that.

More than anything, I want this to be a community. I am the "legal" owner of this site, but really, I want this site to be user-centric. It's what you want that will keep you coming back and I want to give that to you. You just have to tell me what that is.

THANKS for supporting the site, promoting it in every way that you can and bringing more people on board... :D:D Please if you can help in that regard.

Oh, I forgot to add:

On the subject of FAQ's. Yes, in fact this software does allow for extensive FAQ's that are user driven. Which means, you submit the questions, and in some cases the answers.

I am going to write up or find some documentation for you guys so you can see how easy it is to submit FAQ's, news items, links, downloads, reviews, etc to the site. Eventually I will have the photo gallery open for posting by users also.

This is truly your site with this software- you drive the content as users, I and others simply moderate it. :D You don't need any special knowledge, no HTML, etc. It's very easy- I promise I will find a way to let you know how to do it...

Thanks

totally awesome jj. what kind of server are you thinking you'd need eventually? intel-based? multi-processor? raid? (just curious, is this site currently being run in linux or windoze?) are you administering it yourself or its it run in a server farm?

anyway, since there will be about 4000 sti's made this year, you should have about (conservatively) 2000 members by december. if everyone chipped in a paultry $3, you'd have your machine with much cash to spare. i think the future is bright. :D

JJ, Exactly... I like the idea of stickers and stuff. I would certainly put a 6-8" side window sticker supporting this site on the STi (hopefully, that doesn't sound like blasphemy). :) Along with other things. If most users are as excited about this car and the community then the site will continue to do excel.

Everyone just needs to remember to put their user name on their imprezawrxsti.com sticker. It would be pretty cool, though it would be pretty rare(making it that much cooler) to pull up behind a fellow STi owner knowing who it belongs to.

As far as making us "the" STi site, the issue is that NASIOC has a huge installed base already. I still surf those forums a lot for a couple of reasons: there are a lot of people on there in the "regional" forums so we've set up SE Wisconsin Subaru meets from there. Also, there are some seriously old skool Subaru dudes, like Glen Wallace, who can ramble off the part numbers for calipers for a 1998 2.5 RS if they want to from memory.
Not bashing this site, just trying to help. Need to get the word out...

JJ....very cool ideas man. Sometime we may need to chat as I've talked with the admin over at newcelica several times about how he keeps that site alive. Some things have been very good....others, not worth the time.

I'd be willing to sport an imprezawrxsti.com sticker somewhere....as long as we keep things clean. I'm not one for big decals and stickers everywhere, but the support will certainly be shown.

Forget Orlando, FL

D$:

Yes, please get the word out however you can about this site. :D

I am not saying that I will overtake NASIOC.. It's a great site, I'll give it props because it is the largest GENERAL Sube forum around. (keyword GENERAL Subaru)

This site has greater focus than that, and will probably not sport 30,000 members soon. I am alright with that. I just want it to be the premier STi site around. (keyword STi). :)

Thanks for the support...

JJ
