Ya thats why Im trying to see if the bushings alone will make any difference. Hopefully they will be in next week. As $20 is much easier to spend then $300-400.

The short shifter does reduce the throw, albeit slightly. The real results, we think, come from the combination of the parts working together. You would get a more rigid, solid feeling shift. The gates that the shifter slides through feel narrower and the shifter feels as if it can take some powerful shifts. There is a bit more vibration in the shifter and a bit more noise, both tolerable and mostly unnoticeable, with the shifter bushing and transmission mount, but for those that like the tranquility of their stock STI should not be bothered much by these changes in cockpit sound. Overall, a very good set of modications that translates into a more enjoyable driving experience. The STI, in our opinion, should have come with the short shifter and a tougher shifter bushing to compliment the six speed transmission and the 2.5L motor.
