I have read some forums and found that Short Ram Intake should
give some performance gain for STI. But I see some people having
INJEN and PERRIN short ram felt lagging acceleration in 5th or 6th gear.
Lots of forums suggesting Blitz SUS, but it may cause engine to run lean.
I also see some good reviews about TurboXS shorty and AEM Short Ram.
Seems like they don't require ECU Upgrade. I want to get a short
ram intake for performance but don't know which one is good for my
STI. Could anyone with experience give me some inputs ?.... thanks

I didn't know INJEN made a short ram. I had a INJEN Cold Air Intake on my 2.5 Turbo Forester, and it definately lagged compared to the short ram APEXi. Any short ram will do.

BOV POLL !!! Advise.

Oh yeah! INJEN don't make Short Ram ... just went thru their website ...
I think short ram intake is what I should get by reading some forums.
and I do see some people having lag in acceleration for PERRIN tho. Don't know
why? But to be safe .... I am considering between Blitz SUS, TurboXS and AEM.
Does anyone know which one I would be happy with, or maybe they are all
the same?

I would get the Blitz or TurboXS. Guru uses both and he says a lot of good stuff about them.

I think I should reconsider Perrin again .... seems like its OK for STI
I have searched around and not seeing many people using TurboXS. I see more
people using Blitz SUS, but it cost a lot more tho. Do you guys know any good websites
for buying intakes with discount?? Also do you have info about how much maintenance is needed
for short ram intake like cleaning and oiling? Of course I would interested in one which doesn't
require extensive maintenance :D

I have talked to some friends and they said if a short ram intake is your first mod,
it wouldn't add any performance gain to the car, is that right?? Actually where is the
bottle neck of performance in a STI?

if i remember correctly - the point where an intake (only short ram) would make a difference with the standard wrx is @ the 300hp mark... considering the same is true for the STi (300hp) - i would think there would be at least marginal gains in performance, as well as no lean condition as with the 2.0l.

the main bottleneck in performance is in the downpipe because it contains 2 cats... removing these (recommending godspeed downpipe) will allow for more airflow and a SIGNIFICANT gain in performance..

this sums it up right here -

If the main bottleneck is downpipe and turbo, that should get modified first, I think ...
Since downpipe contains 2 cats, would removing it still pass smog check??
