question, i leave work after 12 hours and drive 3/4 miles until i hit an on ramp. the question is it is a fair level of ascend. with a corner in the middle. easy in fourth gear up to 50 mph about 3500 rpm do i shift to 5 th, or do i wind out 4 th another 1/4 mile until it's flat. when i shift into fifth. it seems to bog the engine a bit. better to wind the engine out or shift too soon. excuse my ignorance in this dept.

If you are going uphill and not accelerating hard and only doing 3.5 grand, I'd leave it in 4th. Shift when 5th will be between 2500 and 3000 rpm, preferably closer to 3000. But there's no need to shift out of 4th just because it's at 3500 rpm.

Hmm. . . inxsone . . . are you still breaking your baby in? If so, I'd just keep the RPMs between 3500-4000 in 4th until you begin to level-out. Then, shift "with purpose" . . . as in, don't shift into 5th too slowly, and the engine shouldn't bog. :D

However, if you're all broken-in. . . . wind that puppy up in 4th! :p
