Situation Cliff Notes:

Have a 97 Acura GSR and a 95 Mitsu GST for sale & $20,000 siting in the bank waiting for my STi to show at the dealer.

3 weeks ago I finalized a deal on my GSR for $10, 500. I then left on a 3 race road trip on the east coast. Not knowing I had the GSR sold, my wife sold the GST while I was gone!!.

Problem: I currently have no car & my dealer in Southern California not only cannot tell me when my car will arrive, THEY WON'T EVEN RETURN MY PHONE CALLS OR E-MAILS. In the mean time, there is a Blue EVO sitting a the local Mitsu dealer for MSRP

What in the heck am I to do?

Wait.

Mitsubishi is not known for their reliability, and they are already having major tranny problems.

Wait.

Well.... then loan him your car. :) His problem is no car, and zero committment from his dealership concerning delivery of his STI as I read his post.

The EVO tranny problems are over blown ..... big time. My hunch is you know which car you want. Start calling dealerships and don't be afraid to head out of town to get your STI. The STI is better suited for the low octane gas available to you in California. The EVO's performance is degraded on 91 octane.

Speedlimit... :)

Re: Although Entertaining...

Murley,

Thats great,

I'm leaving for an SCCA race in Seattle & will be back in Los Angeles on Tues. Will have access to email while I'm gone.

Looking for Blue/Silver Wheels.

How complicated is it to close a deal out of State over the phone?
How much to ship the car to LA & how long would it take?

Unfortunatly I won't be in your area until we run at Road America in Aug.

If we can make a deal you will be a life saver

Murley,

Did you receive a color combo that nobody ordered? Just curious as to how you have a car that #2 and #3 don't want.

I have checked the EVO out THOUGOHLY. In fact I had the #1 spot at my local dealer 2 months ago, right up until they tried to charge me $45K for the car (left a VERY bad taste in my mouth). To be honest, I was not thoughly impressed Aside from the Recaro's, It wasn't much different from sitting in my wifes Toyota. I had many problems with my GS-T including a bad engine, and would like to aviod that again. My uncle can't say enough good things about his WRX that he has had since the first year of production. The deciding factor, while stupid to most people came down to a simple matter of creature comfort. OK so the STi has no stero, any number of places can supply & install a stinking stereo. When was the last time anyone talk about an easy to install after market cruise control?

Yes, I would be very happy driving the EVO, however I would really perfer the STi. The problem is when I get back home on Tuesday, I will need to rent some POS just to get back & forth to work. How long can one really put up with that?
