You know a lot of talk have been generated on here after we have seen the STi seats aren't what everyone else in the world gets. There a few solutions to this of course.

1) Live with them (I am sure they will be really nice)
2) Change them out with a nice set of Recaros or Sparcos
3) Buy a European/JDM set of STi seats.

I've given all of them some thought, especially if I get into racing with the car. I love the look and feel of option #2, but then again it might not match up as well as the OEM STi seats. Option 3 is also a nice choice, but probably equally (if not more than) expensive than option #2.

What's everyones' thoughts.

I am thinking option 3 for sure. That is if I can drop a few pounds between now and when I get my car! I guess I will go with whatever seat my fat a$$ will fit into! I definately would love to have the JDM front seats. Those are awesome. Is the reason we don't get them have to do with the side air bags? Do the seats impede their operating somehow?

I was thinking option #3, but maybe only the driver's seat if its too expensive. Kind of like the 350Z.
that's also a good idea too..so as not to jack up the cost of replacement too bad...then sell the other one online huh?

i really wanted the jdm seats, since they're supposed to be fantastic and i fit in them, but now that we're not getting them all i'm going to do is complain that we're not getting them and then once i get my sti i will forget all about that. and option 1 is cheaper.

I dunno, if we are getting the seats that are in the brochure then I still think those are hella cool seats. Also from what I can tell the rest of the worlds STi seats are the rest of the worlds WRX seats. We get the same thing. It's just that our WRX seats are different than the rest of the worlds. Must be those fat americans :D

Of course I'm a small american at 5'10" and a buck fourty to fourty five.

Daaaaamn...you're fricken skinny! Remember that the STi seats are wider for fat americans so you might need to put small cushions on the sides for shimming

How's this? I'm going to remove the passenger's seat rails and bolt it to the floor, then make my girlfriend ride aroung in it screaming "Right turn - soft, opens to straight, left over crest 60!!!" I might even make her call me Mr. Tommi Mäkinen. What do you think?

Funniest thing I've heard all morning!!! Maybe I'll ask my wife if we can do the same.

4MLA1FN,
Hmm, that's a good point. I haven't thought about the side airbags in the seats. If the Euro/JDM versions have it then I would think "plug and play."

You'd think the Europeans would have made a CD with nothing but rally calls on it by now.

Can anyone find a few recordings of it? That would be the shit to go to the next autox with the system blasting "Over crest - caution over jump".

Re: deleting stereo to get better gas mileage!?!?!?

What do these other seats look like? The only ones I have seen are the black and blue bucket seats that I thought we were getting? You mean to tell me there is something better?

I kinda like the more "normal" seats. This car is a daily driver for most of us.
Have you sat in a Recaro Turino seat before? I promise you it is more comfortable than any seat you have sat in before. I've sat in a knock-off Turino and all I can say is DAMN!

Aftermarket seats aren't that bad, but it would be a day long job. Most seats come with their own rails that are specially made for the car. People usually forget to add in the price of rails when buying seats and then get roped into spending another $50-100 on rails.

BHODGES3, the JDM market seats look very similar with blue fabric but are much more like a recaro seat or similar style. The USDM seats appear to be the same as WRX seats with a different fabric. These pics from the Paris auto show are the JDM version. Also check the thread below for more discussion.

The pics from the Paris Auto Show are of the European version, not the JDM version. Note the LHD. I think even Europe gets different seats than Japan.
