I went to a city fair today. I parked in a city garage on the end with plenty of room on the left. When I got home I noticed two scratches in my eight day old STi, one on the rear passenger door and one on the rear quarter(shown here). They both look like they may buff out. At first I thought I had been keyed. But at closer look, I now think it was a baby stroller. This was a huge wake up call for me. I think I will be staying closer to my car from now on and driving the wife's car to public places.

I knew it would happen sooner or later, but eight days is just way to soon.

That is most unfortunate and would be most upsetting. I have been parking at the other end of parking lots to try to reduce the chances of that happening but sometimes this is not always possible. It may buff out with some good polish and elbo grease.

Did anyone else notice a lot of very subborn glue on their sti which looked just like scratches but buffed out with a lot of work? Mabey my deal just did a crappy job of prepping the car.

post pics of all color combos please

Couple things I've learned:

1. Scratches are inevitable. I got a nice deep ding and scratch on the front of the hood of my WRX, and scratches on the roof of my car cuz my friends weren't careful when they loaded their snowboards on my roof rack. But that's what you get when your car is so capable.

2. I own my car. It does not own me. On the verge of sounding philosophical, is your life not worth more than your car? (Some of you out there maybe your life isn't haha j/k). I've just resigned that scratches will inevitably occur unfortunately, especially if I'm gonna continue going on snowboard trips, but that's the reason I got the car in the first place.

STI vs Evo in NY times

I noticed a bunch of light scrathes I will be trying to polish out today becaue I am getting the stone gard type stuff installed tomorrow and I don't want the scratches sealed in. A good wax job would take care of them but that wont do me any good because any wax on the surface will be removed prior to the stone stuff install. I hope mine are only glue streaks from the plastic wrap. It did seem like they are not as visible after the wash, maybe a good polish will remove them.

I agree scratches are inevitable but there is no reason not to go a little out of your way to avoide them as much as possible. Only thing I am really worried about is some A-hole doing something on purpose.

That scratch is not an accident by someone. That is very obviously an envious, A-hole with his mission complete and his little mind a little bit happier.

I will post my experience. It is not getting done now till Wed. Oh yeah, all the scratches polished right out. They might have only been glue streaks. The finish looks amazing now, I can't wait to get the film on to seal it all in. I wounldn't mind getting the film put on every body panel. It sucks cause I am hardly driving it till I get this stuff put on so I don't get any stone chips or scratches that will then be sealed in.
