dmasti--What part of the country are you in. For the most part SOA has the dealers sticking to MSRP and alot of the people on the board have said that their dealers are going to. If you gave them a deposit and a buy order went in to give up your place would push back your delivery date if you went to another dealer. Tell them you know what MSRP is and see if they will cave if you say you can go on the national board and tell us all that they are not honoring SOA's request to stick to MSRP.SFRinNJ

STi and WRX vid

i live in san diego, and there is only one other dealer in my area i believe and i think they are all owned by same group (bob baker). i asked my salesman how much over and he wasn't sure yet, but assured me atleast $2000, and my limit including tax, license etc. is 35000, so that won't work for me =/ i guess i could try some dealers in la as a last resort

If you already put money down and really want one, I would write a letter to Subaru and explain what is happening. Tell them how this really gives you a bad impression of Subaru in general if that is how the dealers work you will probably never buy another Subaru product again. Not sure if anything will happen but it's worth a shot at least to let Subaru know what that dealership is doing.

explain to them you will simply walk! They can make money now, or later it is up to them. Then explain to them the lists on the internet where dealerships are being banned by buyers for charging over msrp. Tell them you will add their name to the list. You played fair in the beginning now it is up to them.
Don't be afraid to walk. There are other dealers out there. Some have huge lists, some small. all will deliver to you, even if it's in another state.

I just spoke to 3 separate dealers in my region.(amarillo, lubbock, vegas) Amarillo and Vegas,NV. ARE planning on charging over msrp. They also said there is going to be only 700 released this year. There is approximately 600 dealers in US. Thats not too many to go around. I am #6 on the list in Lubbock.

In my personal opinion Bob Baker Dealerships are a bunch of ass****s. I had a rude sales guy back when I wanted to get a wrx and told myself I would never buy a car from any Bob Baker dealership.

Don't know how full their list is or how many cars they are getting but you could try BalBoa Auto Center, they have a subaru dealership there, I am on theire. Don't know if they are charging MSRP or not but could be another option.
