Recently I found some cracks on the Hot Side of my Dom 3, contacted Blouch since it was still within the warranty period. They said to ship it over for either repair or replacement of the hot side. In the shipment slip of the turbo i included the problem with it and a few pricing questions on the new xt-r 3.0. When Blouch recieved the turbo it had been damaged in travel, they advised me to start a claim since i had purchased insurance. After a week of going back and forth with the shipping company I had informed Blouch that this was my daily driver and I needed them to start repairing the turbo so I can get it on the road, knowing i would be responsible for the cost till the insurance money came in. They said not to worry, they would not fix it but build me a new XT-R with the bigger hot side and billet wheel and deal with the old turbo on their own. I was beyond impressed, I had gone with Blouch because of their excellent reputation and great products and relized I had made the right decision. I wanted to thank all their employees for putting up with my many phone calls and let them know I deeply appriciate it.
As for the turbo, install with very easy, turbo fits better than the old Dom 3. The performance is very similar except it seems to pull more up in the high rpms with the same mid range, also spools faster. Made 413hp and 398 tq with the old Dom 3 and I cant wait to get this on the dyno and see what power numbers it lays down.

Set up:2004 STi
Turbo: Dominator 3 XT-r
ECM: open source tune @ CFT
CBE: Blitz
Header: prosport, catless down pipe
Injectors: 850 cc converted to top feed, perrin rails
pump: 255lph
FMIC
Boost control: Profec

Will post new dyno results with sheet when after Thanksgiving when i get the car tuned.

is that right...? hmm there was some discussion in another thread about spool time and response as in regard to these turbos (2.5xt-r to be exact) on a 2.0L, and i for one said i'd gladly take the .5 seconds of lag for the higher top end punch lol. you sir, just helped make my decision more fulfilling. correct me if im wrong, but the OG 3.0R you sent back had the 8cm housing correct? and this newer, bigger (10cm) redesigned housing not only spooled quicker, but pulled harder too? i think ill be sellin my 18g SOON lol

ok sorry about the delay but ive been mad busy, mainly with the car. To recap put the new XT-R blouch dom3 with that crazy billet wheel and 10cm2 hot side on, totally stock block, stock pistons and all. sent it back to CFT in orlando for a tune. put down 468whp and 428tq, during the drivablitity tune on the street the car pulls so hard its crazy. coming back from to the shop car started to miss. found my catch can full of oil. compression test found front two cyl. low on compression between 80-90 psi vs 140psi on the back two. pulled the motor this morning. both pistons broke in the ringland between rings. Called CFT in orlando, should have a set of forged pistons and head studs by tuesday. I took a ton of pics today and this last week but cant figure how to post em on here. when its back together ill make a video of the dyno and road tuning and post it on youtube for all to see. Anyway car should be back on the road for some breakin miles tues night, plan on staying at the shop late to put it together. hope everyone is having a great holiday week and enjoying the nice weather.

Sucks about the news man! Same exact thing happened to me except, just with just stage 2 setup. Do you have an egt gauge? If so what was it at around failure? I rebuilt with cosworth rods and pistons, hopefully will run an xtr when I get some more money. Good luck with the rebuild!

468whp on stock internals? were you trying to break something?

GL w. the rebuild..

yeah, didnt set out to break anything, didnt think it would make that kinda power on pump gas and meth. its was the second pull on the dyno that started to show over 450 and he fine tuned from there. thought it would hold for a little while. guess a little while turned out to be much shorter than i thought. Turned out for the best, could use a fresh set of pistons and i had no idea it was so easy to take these motors apart. Different but more simple than the nissan/infiniti's i do everyday. Think i will stay around that level even with the upgrades. I rarely make it to the track so thats enough for the street.

:eek::eek::eek:

looks like youve got a wicked street fighter on your hands. congrats!

+1 dyno sheet; +1 91 octane?, and +1 for having to becareful of this turbo..

It would be damn hard to ask the tuner to leave it be at 430whp/22psi knowing how much more there was left.

looks like ill be researching shortblocks and internal workings next. =/
