They most certainly will sell WRX's and lots of them.

The STi is a limited edition, halo car. Part of it's purpose is to fuel interest and sell more WRX's. :D

Also, the current WRX seems to be more "refined." With the release of the STI, Subaru fills the gap by adding available options such as leather/trim package, and a premium sound system to the WRX.

IMHO, the leather package was a nice touch. The quality was top-notch, the look was outstanding, and the seats were still supportive.

I'm not a big fan of leather b/c its cold in the winter and hot/sticky in the summer. That and it wears so much faster than cloth.

Of course for those who want leather in their STi you can get leather upholstered seats put in aftermarket.

They added all this new optional crap to the 04 WRX, but I wonder if they did anything like add a lock to the trunk pass through and add a keyless entry feature for the trunk. Don't you think that would be a lot more useful than slippery leather seats and a heavy moonroof? :-?

Leather - yeah....not so nice if you've owned it before. For a non sports car, it's very nice, especially the new perforated leather that lets your body still breathe. In a sports car....hell no. Slip sliding your ass through all the turns. My sides were extremely SORE after doing an autox school in the Celica....all because I was holding myself from sliding all damn day.

Sunroof - heavy ass....I don't get it. The spare tire, a few extra gallons in the tank, or the wing itself weighs as much as the sunroof. 35 lbs is the diff, that was the quote from Mitsu for the EVO's sunroof. I'd challenge ANYONE to take two identical cars out and be able to tell me which one has an extra 35 lbs in the trunk. I would love a sunroof. They add an extra element of openness in the cabin. Just having the glass there, not even when it's open.....very nice.

I know I couldn't, but there was a Sport Compact Car article about a year ago in which they were testing the impact of different size tires 15-17's and the effect of weight by adding or taking away weight in the form of 50 pound weights (sandbags I think) in the trunk. They had some pro rally guy driving an Evo and didn't tell him what things they would be changing but covered the wheels everytime before he stepped in the car. When they 1st added the weight he commented the the car felt sluggish and asked if they added some weight. Maybe someone else remembers this article - it was online as well but I can't find it

That could be. When you are talking about a stripped out rally car and a guy who's job is to race it, he could probably notice that diff.

My point is people make such a huge deal out of weight in cars with stereos, full interiors, hoods, 18s....and so on. Yeah, 100 lbs is technically worth .1 in the quarter mile. But for 99% of people, does 20/30/50 lbs of anything make any difference? I don't hear people saying they don't fill up their gas tanks fuller than 1/4 full to save weight! Gasoline weights 6 lbs per gallon, but no one says anything about that extra 70 lbs that you are carrying around with you.

If 35 lbs is a big deal to someone, I wanna see em without a spare, no hood, stripped interior, race bladder.......

just to toss in my opinions :) I agree if a sunroof would be availbe on the STi I would have gotten it no questions asked, the airyness in the cabin from the extra light and the ability to have a pseudo cab is awesome :)
