As she sits today: Stage 2+SF rocks!

I had an 08 DGM that was the prototype car for the AMS 750R kit, that met it's unfortunate demise shortly after the build thanks to a sharp curve, some gravel and a ditch. There was probably some lack of skill in there somewhere, but I won't admit it to myself...
Here's a few pics of the old sleepmonster.

Me an my boy when we dropped the 08 off at AMS in Chicago in April of 2009,

And they made this!

She was a beast, especially on E85...

But now she's gone and I'll spare you the graphic photos of the carnage...:(

Did without a car for the year I was in Korea for a short unaccompanied tour.

Now I have a new 2011 STI Limited, since I always wished I had the BBS wheels and IMHO the new gunmetal color is sweet, not to mention I always wanted a car with a sunroof (I know added weight FTL :p ). The only option I bought was a Homelink autodimming mirror, and I love it.

I think she's a real beaut! I went with Lightning Red to add some color to my life, and also since it seems to be really rare, especially in the 2011 sedans. I got tired of seeing all the DGM and SWPs, even though I really like those colors too.

Red is just so damn sexy...

My mod path will be way slower than last time. I'll try to keep some warranty in tact for now. lol

Yeah, I'm fairly certain I will just affectionately refer to her as the Cop Magnet.

I'm willing to bet you're right about the ricer's and V8 boys wanting to make a go at me, especially here around an army base. I refuse to drive like an asshat though, so they'll be fairly disappointed

Thanks for the props!

Cheers!

FT hood is definatly a terrible place for people trying to race. I just left there last April to come to Germany, and people were trying to race me on a daiy basis. Gets kinda annoying real fast. But the red is definetly the best color on a GR. Makes me haven even more regrets on my OBP. Nice Ride X10!

Very nice.... congrats. I was trying to decide how I wanted to tint my WRB '11 sedan, now I think I know. I like the 30% for front sides and 20% for the rest like you did.

Holy smokes, that's the reddest car I've ever fricken seen lol. It really really stands out, I think it looks great. This is the first red sedan I've seen.

NYC is a terrible place to race, cops all over the place just looking for a chase. Plus, Texas probably has open stretches where you can floor this sucker (after break-in haha). And yeah you're dealer flashed you to stage 1, that's awesome. I think the best colors on the 11 GR has to be Lightning red and PBP(see it live and you'll be in awe, even though most pictures of pbp look wack as hell)

Re: Got a new one...Red

Your DGM's engine bay looked sinister. Any plans for the red 2011? hopefully something on that same level. :)
This is my daily driver, so I've got to show a little restraint. Eventually I'd like to think I'll give her the Full Race/EFR treatment some day, but it all comes down to $$$ and wife approval. It might be quite a while. We'll see how they perform. That low mount KillerB GTX setup is going to be sick too!

Next up will probably be an AEM intake once Cobb has their Stg1+ map out.

Send it off to AMS again
Lol, see above...but I do think their work is outstanding. I liked that setup, but the 750R was just a little laggy for my taste. The Topspeed option with a traditional 3076 and a .63 Tial back-housing may be a little more suitable, who knows... It is certainly different now not having all that top end juice any more.

Nice car dude, how do you like it so far compared to your old hatch?.....

Also post some pics of the carnage... we love carnage.
I loved the hatch. I went with the sedan for something new, and I really like the look. There's plenty of space in the trunk, so there's still a good bit of room, but I haven't really needed max capacity yet. The steering is a little more communicative, but not much different. Interior is a little nicer IMHO with the darker trim and leather. I dig the seat heaters too, believe it or not it was a little cool here in Texas this past week...lol. Otherwise, it's damn near the same car, just red with a big *** wing. I'm much more aware of cops in this one though since I know I stand out waay more!

I'll have to think about posting up the carnage pics, it just hurts so much...:(

If I'm not mistaken the 30% on the front is the legal limit here and the 20% is very practical. I think it worked out well.

Thanks to everybody for the great comments, keep 'em coming!

Russ

The dealer didn't flash anything. I did the flash, using my AccessPort off the old car with the latest firmware update. I still haven't gone into S# though, I still have 600 miles to go to finish the break-in.
