All i have to say is you better have at least $9000 down or you will be paying over $400 a month

I bought my WRX for $23,950 and put down $3,550. My payments with 4.9%APR is $420 a month with $145/mo insurance.

$565/mo and that is just $23,950

This is true. We bought our 4Runner and put about $5K down...with a similar APR our payments are around $470 a month. insurance is less than $100 for full coverage though. I think the rule is 10% down. Of course you put down as much as you want to suit or payments/tastes.

Here's a little fuel for the 'price' fire....an email from my dealer today.

Good Morning Rob
I have a short update for you on your STi order. I have just spoke with our
Subaru district sales rep. and he told me all pre-sold orders will be filled
before any allocations to the Subaru dealers. The price is still
undetermined as they are waiting for the release of the Mitsubishi Evo. He
did tell me it will be approx $500 less and more horsepower. He would not
discuss numbers tho. Also he all but guaranteed me that all orders will be
filled. This is good news. Have a great day!
Thanks
Chris Larson

Again, all speculation and nothing in writting anywhere, but I've spoken with Chris personally and he verbally verified about every piece of info Worm has been able to provide to us, so I trust him.

I hear that!

I keep hearing the Evo with 250hp. I can believe this too since they have to change a lot more on this car to make it emissions legal.

Yeah I sure hope the STi will be right at $30K..call it $29,995. Of course I spoke with my dealer two nights ago and he said that when SOA announced the WRX they gave prices of $24 and $25K...and base price on the WRX sedan 5spd is $23,995....my dealer said right around $30K..so hope this means $29,995! :D

Really? Only 250 in the Evo? Wow, I have still been hearing around 265 since they maintained the FMIC.

Ah who knows. We're just running around chasing our tails until the Evo is released in, what, 70 days or something like that?

Yeah, I keep hearing 250, but you know we won't know until it comes out. Who knows...I think initially it could come out with 250 and the Subie having more, but then future releases of the Evo they could always increase the power.

The latest info on the Evo is: 265hp, Brembos, Recaros, fmic, lighter than the VII, 0-60 under 5 sec. And it is rumored the target base price for the Evo is about 29k and will be at or under 32k loaded.
Lancerforums.com has all the latest rumors.

Evo

265 HP and under 5 sec. sprint? That sounds a little wishful.

BTW anybody read about the new Prodrive Sport package for STi in UK?
I think its like 300 HP and 295 lb/ft of torque for 2,000 pounds. Not bad, eh?

I think the Lancer can do sub 5 sec sprint if it is much lighter and 265hp. The only thing I keep thinking when I hear numbers is relativity. Sure the WRX can blow by 0-60 in 5.4 secs as recorded by Car and Driver, but do that all the time and your car is junk, starting with the tranny.

I think both the STi and Evo will be very comparable in the US market..considering weight and power differences.

The only thing I thnk about with the Prodrive package is they mess with the ECU. I don't want to mess with the ECU much. I would rather free up lost hp/tq in the form of exhausts, etc.

This is true..but I wonder when they mess the ECU if they mess with the boost parameters. If so I don't know if I would like that b/c the STi is already running nearly 20 psi of boost..and I want this sucker to last!!!
