FYI:
I think the usefulness of this specific forum software I am using has done well, but there are some neat features we could take advantage of with an upgrade. I am thinking of either:
1) Installing PHPbb2. It is the upgraded version of PHPbb1, which we are using currently. It's free, which is a big plus. It will also seamlessly import all current posts. You can see an example of a PHPbb2 board in operation at:
http://phpbb.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/index.php
2) Installing vBulletin. vBulletin of course is the forum software in use by i-club.com and rs25.com . It is proven, and people seem to like it. I am checking to see if I can even import the posts from the DB to vBulletin.
The biggest *feature* difference of the two is that vBulletin comes with attachment capability. PHPbb2 doesn't out of the box, but can be "modded" or "hacked" to do so.
I want to know what the users of my site think about this. Should I go with PHPbb2 or vBulletin? Would either one cause you to spend more/less time here?
Thanks
JJ
