Actually.....a lot of mags have tested the car now. That's why all of those were in SoCal a few weeks back.

If they somehow got a 'leak' of performance numbers...that's possible. Otherwise, anyone can make up numbers. Watch this!

Pssst.....I just drove an STi......0-60 in 3.9 and quarter in 12.5. KICK ASS HUH?

People really need to settle down and not get so hyped up over speculation. You're going to give yourself a coronary. You would have driven us nuts when we were all guessing what SOA would say at Detroit.

The Subaru reps at the Chicago auto show were saying 4.7 0-60 and that some magazine got 4.4. They also said a price of $33k to $34k. I know, what do they know, but I am sure Subaru told them something to say since I am sure they knew questions like that would be asked and would not want the reps to start pulling numbers out of their asses. When I asked about weight they said they did not know. ...But like all the BS we have been dealing with for quite a while now, we will have to just wait and see.

let's put it this way ... magazines that saids 0-60 in 5.1sec are quoting the price at $30,995. Magazines that saids 0-60 in 4.7sec are quoting the price at $32,000. And magazines that saids 0-60 in 4.4sec are quoing the price at $35,000. That's what I had been seeing around ......

And by saying this, someone might start spreading the words out that STi comes with 3 trims models, each with different engine and performance stats.

Just calm down ....

Subaru is officially quoting 0 to 60 times as 4.8 secs. Which is still pretty damn fast.
O.k.

BMW M3(stock) 0-60 = 4.8 sec with 333 horsepower
Price = $46,000.00 with no options at all. Realistically with the necessary options it will run you $51,000.00.

Subaru Impreza WRX STI(stock) 0-60 = 4.8 sec with 300 horsepower
Price = $31,000.00 with everything standard cept radio.

GEE WILBUR? I wonder which one i should buy? Sti + 20k to put towards an S2000 was my choice. I had an 03' M3(january delivery) that i had on order since last August when i found out about the Sti coming to america last october. BMW dealer don't like me too much anymore :p

I also saw the 0-60 time quoted by SOC as 4.8 sec.

It was in the Vancouver Province newspaper during an interview with SOC president.

Hopefully SOC has their #'s right.

Actually, no offense to Murley, but isn't an uncanny ability to pull stuff out of your ass a prerequisite to becoming a car salesman? At auto shows you are usually talking to a salesperson from one of the local dealerships, so they will tell you whatever will get you into their showroom.

Telling me 34 to 35 isn't going to make me race into a dealer.....
But if it did, the dealer that got the sale might be pretty pleased with the con they pulled. That's why I like that fixed amount commision thing Murley's dealership has (a set amount per car sold, not a %). That way there is no motivation for the salesperson to sell over what they need to; they just make the sale.

Well, if anyone gets that dreaded coronary let me know... I'll be happy to do an angioplasty...not my specialty but hey... that's ok....

(murley get's to drum up business why can't I?)

LOL...actually i got the S2000 before i'm getting my STI. In my intial post about it i said i didn't plan on buying it. I have always liked the car. The dealership i am getting my sti at is also a honda dealership and they have had a suzuka blue s2000 in their showroom since january. They kept lowering the price gradually on it and still didn't sell it. So jokingly I offered em a lowball 3k under sticker offer and they said yes. So i bought the car. Its a two seater gorgeous droptop with a 240hp straight 4cyl with a 9,000 redline....nuff said. Its my daily driver summer fun car for this year. :D

totally agree. not to mention the sti will clearly have the upper hand in less ideal conditions such as the wet, snow, etc. it is really a no brainer. it seems the only competition is the all-wheel drive 911. but that's $100k+, i believe.

Yeah, that and the fact that I've seen the WRX put up next to the 911 and read that they were already very close. Now the STi??? No questions asked!

In regards to the "Non0Offensive" comment about salespeople, that is typically true. I sell a lot of cars Specifically because I don't BS people, I don't high-pressure, I don't do any today-only deales, I'm just straight forward and sool with everyone. It's amazing how many people appreciate being treated like People!!! :D

Also, I think that the people that you are talking to at Auto Shows are actually people employed by the Mfg's. I say that because I'm part of a few different of the larger auto shows. The "soon-to-come" cars are always manned..., or womened... :D , by Mfg employees.

Sorry, those of us in the podunk towns don't get that kind of special treatment. When the WRX first was released, I went to the Denver auto show to try to get some information on whether the STi was going to be released as well. The lady humored me for a while, constantly trying to sway my interest towards the base WRX. After a long, aggrivating discussion, she hands me her card, and I realise I spent all this time talking to a local dealer whose only experience with the WRX and STi were what she read from a brochure, and the drive to the auto show.

Suffice it to say, the same lady told me later that month, when I came to test drive a WRX, that they were selling them for $2000 over MSRP. I didn't even consider trying to get on the STi list at that dealership, but I highly doubt they will guarantee MSRP on the STi. I'll never understand how a football player's name adds any value to a car dealership.
