we're getting our cars. what are people's reactions or what are they saying when they see the car?

i've had mine for 16 days. i think i've averaged one comment per day from strangers at stoplights, parking lots, etc. i've had conversations with a few drivers at stoplights (rsx-s, viper, mustang drivers), all of them expressing some level of awe at the car. the viper driver, who was oggling the car as we were rolling through traffic, pulled up next to me at the head of the line at a stoplight, paused a second, and gunned his v10 -- beautiful sound. i looked over and said "i've only got 150 miles or i'd gladly accept your offer". (i was kidding of course.) we laughed, talked briefly about what the sti and the viper was like to drive, etc.

i was recently driving through DC, about to make a right turn. there was a break in tourist pedestrian traffic, so i slowly crept through. a small group of highschoool aged guy were crossing and as i passed through, i heard on of 'em say excitedly to the others, "omg, look! that's the new sti!!".

i was at a church retreat this weekend. i pulled in to the drive way and met my parents and sister. about a hour later, we went out to the car. an older guy came up to us and said "i've been admiring your car. you blew past me on rt78. i've been wanting one of these. i love the white...yada yada yada..."

the parents in our neighborhood have been telling me that my car is the talk at the dinner table among their kids. i've given a few kids a ride in it. they walk away giggling and smiling.

it is funny to drive through any town and see people stop what they're doing to stare. 80% are probably saying, "that is ridiculous".

of course, my mom's reactions is "please drive carefull!!" :)

If you are shy, this is not the car for you. It gets a lot of looks, but also strangers asking you to show them the engine , the interior, can I sit inside, can I hear the engine, what are those gold things, where's the radio...Basically, I'm having a blast.

Though, I could do without the constant challenges. The price to pay for a giant wing :D

i had a car load of hot 18 y/o chicks who kept yelling at me. when i finally rolled down the window, they asked to get a ride. then one of them promised sexual acts if she got a ride.

i had to turn them down. i was late for church...

I'd get the same responses (OK, sexual favors... uhhh, no, DAMN! ;-)when I first had my 2000 S4. There weren't many on the road back then, so people basically were interested in the car... Some thought it was a modified A4, other people, especially the gas station workers and parking attendants knew what it was And then there were the many stoplight challenges which I never paid any serious mind to. Ahh... the "good old days."

Due to financial strain, I sold it about a year ago... great car, but I am waiting to save some $$$$ and get into a new STi. So far I like everything I see (and hear, literally, I love the boxer engine/exhaust sound.)

it is amazing how many looks and comments you get in this car... everytime i stop... i have people constantly chacing me down on the road to get a closer look... pulling up at lights next to me to talk... yelling thats an STi!!! if i see a regular rex on the street i do the chacing just to give them a glimps of there dream... pulled into a parking lot the other day two really young kids sitting on the cirb probably 8 or 9 they were like "badass car man, you have somthing stuck in your wheel though... like a bag or somthing"... i looked over and saw that they were talking about the calipers laughed and explained what it was... took it to hot import nights a few weekends ago... it was good to be around ppl that acctually knew what it was... but i think its the best when ppl dont know what it is or what it can do and still love it... that just proves that it looks as bad as it is... when i left HIN and pulled into a gas station close to the show... about 8 ppl stoped to take a look and a few took pictures... guess they were all ppl going to the show... took it to a local import hang out the entire parking lot of ppl walked over to take a look about 40 ppl... its great never had a car that gets this much attention... its going to be fun

earlier today, at a stop sign on the way back from the final 120 miles on my break-in period in the twisty Santa Cruz Mtns in California, my friend observed a young kid (approx 12 yrs old) getting into his mom's SUV...he looked at the STi, jaw dropped, frantically pointed at the car, and mouthed what looked like "hey mom, that's the new STi...look!" LMAO

oh...and i always get "2 Fast 2 Furious" ...ignorant bastids! :x

Well late night I got a shake thrown on my car at Steak & Shake. So I would say ignorance or jealous is to blame for that one. Mostly I get tons of stares and thumbs up. Confused looks from most, reving engines from the Mustang / Camaro crowd (can't wait till it's broken in and then it will be confised looks from Mustang / Camaro guys) =).

Yea this car attracks major attention. I've only had it 5 days and I've almost been late towork twice because of it. First it was the guy in my parking lot wanting to take pictures of it and talking about his older camaros and such.

Then when I got to work I stopped at the gate to show my ID and I pretty much emptied the guard shack. ALL the guards came out to look at it. Then same thing when I got to the parking lot at work, people walking by and asking questions.

It's like that pretty much everyday non stop. Last night (Saturday) I drove by a bar that was just closing and it was full of people outside. I swear at least 100 guys turned around and stared at the car (including the cop).

One guy at work asked me if that was the new Neon, I said "Oh it's not quite a neon no". This is a FUN car to drive....if you're people friendly.

i'm with you on the major attention. i can't park anywhere in public without coming back to at least a couple of people hanging around.

oddly enough most of the "thumbs up" and "nice cars" that i've gotten are from older (40+) men. where's my carload of 18 year old girls?

dear penthouse forums,

i never really believed those stories you print until something happened to me...

------

okay, so nothing like that... ;) darn.

a yellow s2000 or was that the mr2 spider? anyways, he did a double take as i passed him. he passes me again, did a small thumbs up. but he had to stop. as we were stopped, he was 1 car ahead in the next lane over. he then extend his body out and gives a big thumbs up... ;)

that was cool...

cost of tires/rims -- does this bother you?

if someone asked me if that is the new STi's... the smart-ass in me would answer:

umm no, this is just the regular wrx. i just bought the extra big scoop and wing. then the brembo brakes. of course i swapped in the 6 speed tranny along with the 2.5 liter engine. hardest part was getting the gauge cluster to work and of course they threw in the wheels and tires since i spent so much on buying afterwards...

Update: I got pulled over tonight. The first question the Cop asked was "What kind of car is this?" Pretty much a waste of my time he said he didn't see my temporary tag... I thought it would get the cops attnetion and I was right. Can't wait for the "It looks like it can go fast" pull over / harassment. Oh well, I knew what I was getting into. :p

Nothing special for me really. I got alot more attention with my Type R actually. Which is strange cause this car is so much more outrageous. Especially in blue/gold for sure. I did have one guy in a silver C5 pull up next to me at a stop light and ask if we could pull into a parking lot so he could look it over. I said o.k. and we pulled into a japanese restaurant parking lot and he was so excited. He said is getting one in blue/gold too as soon as he sells his vette. He already is working with someone at the same dealership i got mine from he said. So that was cool but the reaction I was expecting has not manifested itself so far. And i told you guys how my best friends girlfriend just thought it was like his Protege ES but with a big wing on it. That sucked. Oh well I didn't get it for people to look at did I.......I got it to smoke Stangs'!!!! LOL J/K  My RX-7 garners alot more attention when i drive it around by the way. Oh and talking about chick magnets...my S2000 gets female attention like you wouldn't believe....women just love drop tops I guess!! That car has helped me go to some "amazing places" in the short while i've owned it. Peace!!
