It's a pressure switch, not a sensor; there is no feedback to the ECU. The switch turns the light on at anything lower than 2.1psi. If I were you, I'd go to AutoZone and grab a $15 mechanical gauge to double check the health of the lubrication system. A flicker at idle is generally not a good thing. I would not drive the car until you know for sure what's going on with it.
