Hey all. In today's NY Times there's a section called "2003 New York Int'l Auto Show". There's not much mentioned about the STi....but under the "Some Favorite Vehicles of 2003" here's a write-up on the WRX.
"Now better than ever, for 2004 the WRX has a nicer looking front
end and a fancier interior. But the point of the WRX is its turbo-
charged, intercooled 227 hp DOHC four-cylinder. With a 5speed
manual and ful-time all-wheel drive, it's like driving a Pro Rally
race car every time you touch the throttle. Four wheel disc
brakes with standard ABS, a firm suspension and neutral handling
mean the WRX is easy to drive fast.....0 to 60 in an eyeblink over
5 seconds. That's seriously quick for a $24,000 four-door sedan
station wagon. For street racers for whom too much is still
not enough, Subaru dealers now offer the $35,000 WRX STi. This
serves up 300 hp and 300lb.-ft. of torque through a 6-speed
gearbox and 225/45ZR17 Bridgestone Potenzas. It may look like
an economy car, but this is one very serious performance machine"
So what're everyone's thoughts on this? Just speculation? I was getting rather comfortable with the $32k figure that's been passed around....
