Hey dudes,

I want to assure I am able to pick up an STI as soon as March 2003 comes around. Do any of you know of key dealers I can drop a deposit to in the NYC area? Thanks in advance.

I just did a search for Bill's posts. I believe the dealer to contact is Van Bortel in Victor NY. I think I will give them a call today. Someone shout if there is another dealer closer to NYC.
thanks

Ok, I gave Van Bortel a ring. Nice guys. I'm 10th or so on the list and was assured that I will be able to snag a Blue Black Mica STI, I hope enough of those come in. Anyways, thanks for indirect info Bill!

I spoke with a very nice guy over there last night. I told him I was worried about my choice of color (Blue black mica) and he said not to fret because they are the largest subaru dealer in the USA and I'm 10th on the list. Plus he added, that subaru may be bluffing on the 1700 figure. Who knows, either way I have my foot in the door.

Hadn't looked that this forum in awhile. Sorry guys. PM me if you have questions on VB - I'll share what I can.

VB is the largest Suby dealer in the nation -three years running. But they're about 300+ miles from NYC. Not too far to go for a good deal tho. In fact, the guy who's first on their list is from Michigan! (ask me how he knows about them  )

Great place to do business with. But when I talked to the sales maanger, about a month ago, they are unsure about volume or when the cars will be brought over. A saleswoman there told me the beginning of January they are expecting the car in late '03 as an '04 model year.

My best guess they'll bring way more than 500 cars. It'll cost too musch for SoA to certify the powertrain to bring that few. How many will remain to be seen, but remember the number on the WRX grew substantially based on sales. Why would they limit the cars if they're all sold? Not a good business decision. Don't want to flood the market, but why not sell every car you can...

I got my WRX from van Bortel and they were pretty good, their price was great. My car was on the first shipment to the US and I got it for 400 over invoice.

I spoke to them about 2 months ago and asked them to put me on their list, but at the time no one had a clue when the STi was coming. I think everyone is speculating right now, and they want to take deposits, like the mitsubishi fools, so they can basically count their chickens, metaphorically speaking.

IMHO, I think that subaru is just waiting for Mitsubishi to announce the exact date for the EVO, then they'll follow about a month or two after that. I mean, why bring it until there's a threat to WRX sales...

Anyway, I got on the list the day I bought my WRX back on March 24th 2001, so I guess that puts me near the top, I'm sticking with blue. Tradition.
