noise coming from front tein flex coilovers

Lately, as its been heating up, ive been starting to develop a little squeaking/ high pitch squealing sound from my front left coil over, and a tiny bit from the right front. It seems to only happen on the rebound stroke but its been hard to isolate it to that but at first i thought it might just be hot oil, maybe low oil, or possibly debris on the shaft but now i have no idea what it might be, There are only 4000 miles on them so theyre pretty much brand new. Does any one have any ideas

same thing happened to my friends prelude, it was due to over stiffness of the shock. supposely tein flex on prelude have more than 32 way adjustable(around 40 i believe) so we adjusted the shock according to 32 setting. and it happened to be way over 32 and we had to lower the stiffnes. this was told by tein representative. i don't know what sti flexs have. but you might want to check on that and call tein

yeah... mine's in 16 position mode right now, but i have set it at 32 position mode previously. Thats funny now that i think about that because i disconnected hte battery numerous times which resets the edfc but it goes through a "reset to 0" stage each time the edfc's master power is reset. It's a real annoying noise though, i was thinking maybe low oil but low oil and squeaky noises could mean hell for a shock absorber. But as far as differences between the prelude and the sti.. i doubt theres too many differences as far as the actual shock absorbers. Im going to go out there now and fiddle around with it and see whats up... Thanks for the input though!!

check how many setting you ahve on your tein. just count every click. it might actually be more than 32 or less.

and also setting high stiffness is not recommanded by tein

just got back from a little drive around hte block... but heres what i did.. i reset the edfc to zero it out in 16 position mode, then switched to 32 position mode. I maxed it out then brought it back down to 0. I then reset it again back to 0 and took it around the block.. it wasnt making hte squeak noise, so then i turn it up to 13/14 in 16 mode and no squeaks.. im like sweeet.. so i changed it back down to 4-6 which is where i normally drive it at and the freakin squeak comes back... so im going to give tein a call tomorow....

but when you say check how many settings, do you mean on hte coil over or on the edfc, i maxed the edfc out and reset it to 0, i did not count but whenever i hit 0 or 32 it just stopped and made that "no no we wont go" :D sound.. or should i try doing hte adjustment on the coilover itself?

yeah check the coilover itself. and just turn it
it might have more setting then what was said

hey man, you were right on the dot, actually dumb me thought that 00 was soft and 16 was hard, its the other way around (i bought the car used with 1000 miles on it and didnt realy read the manual). But when i adjusted it to 16 (soft) i turned off the edfc, disabling the stepping motors, then i went to the motors and backed out the screw as far as it would go without hitting resistance, once it hit resistance it stopped. So im guessing when it hit 5, that would otherwise be the maximum stiffness for the true range of motion. I just think its weird to have a motor that doesn't adjust for the full range of adjustability of the coil over and to have 00 as stiff and 16 as soft, OH WELL, thanks a bunch

Ps, how often do you go to the canyons, i think i've seen you around a few times (gold rims?)
