Good work so far! But im a little confused, you were at the point of doing valve seals with the heads all apart and you only replaced 1 valve seal?? Why not just do them all at that point? I wouldnt want to even think about having to do the job twice later on because of not taking an opportunity while i was there.
I know I thought about it too, but this being my first time doing valve seals, there's a much less chance of me re-installing 4 valve seals rather than 16 seals.

Subscribed....mainly because I've got an 05 WRB and I'm also in dirty Jersey. ;)
Do either of you jersey boys happen to have a single ARP stud and nut? I struck out on the FB page :p

Garden State Subies. It's an obnoxious group of entitled dbags and I hardly everrrr post there, only to ask for help from locals which hardly ever happens. Whenever I go to any meets it makes me ashamed to even be a subie owner.... which might explain why I haven't been to many.
Damn kids and their "stance" and "vapes"

Related, which I found beyond hilarious :lol: :lol: :

So what did the head gasket look like where the bottomed out stud was located? Also, standard ARP studs or 625's?

Standard 11mm ARP 2000's. I got 1 coming from a guy on nas-I-yockk :cool::tup:

I've inspected the HG's with a fine-tooth comb multiple times and haven't seen any obvious signs, maybe it was insignificant enough not to cause any signs?
Or only ran short enough (<5,000 miles) to not show?...

Well boys, this might be the straw that breaks my back.
Everything is back installed 100% and fluids filled. New JE ProSeals + 1 new (used) ARP 2000, torqued 30-60-90. Had no problems there.

Started doing a coolant pressure test tonight and everything was looking fine, she was holding 15-16psi for about 10 minutes (within spec). Then I peaked underneath.....

Leaking from brand new HG's, at only 15psi, AND I DIDN'T EVEN START IT UP!!! :mad::mad::confused::(

I'm 99.9% positive the heads aren't warped because;
1) they were decked <5,000miles ago and this is only a weekend warrior hasn't been tracked,
2) even tho I don't have a machinists straight edge, using feeler gauges and 2 diff rulers, I couldn't even fit the thinnest gauge (.0015") in ANYWHERE, and the warping limit spec is .0014". Sliding the rulers left and right, flipping them upside-down, and all other configurations to rule out the rulers being warped.
3) I wasn't having this problem with the old HG's. I may have been pressurizing the coolant with combustion gases, but never straight leaking coolant out the HG's.

I'm really, really hoping 1 of you guys are gonna call me an idiot, with an explanation like "you idiot! you need to heat cycle the HG's at least once, to allow them to expand to properly seal!!" or something along those lines.
Please?... :p:p

No such luck.... Absolutely should not be leaking. Something is not right :/

Block, head, or head gasket.... You have nothing to lose by starting it up and heat cycling but I (almost) guarantee it won't do anything

By golly I might have dodged a bullet, don't ask how.

Tried starting it up 2 weeks ago, when I pushed the clutch in I heard and felt a "pop" in the pedal.
No fluid was coming out of the master cylinder when pushing in the pedal, so I bought and installed a new MC. It took me almost 2 straight days of bleeding the master/slave but I finally got it this past friday.

Saturday (yesterday) I finally fired her up for about 5 minutes, until a MASSIVE oil leak suddenly appeared from the pass side intake cam seal. The only dealer with 1 in stock was down by Rutgers, so I drove ~2hrs for a $6 oil seal :lol:

Today I fired her up for about 15-20 minutes (no more oil leak :tup:) but I did find a constant drip of coolant coming from the bottom of my Koyo rad, which has no more than 30K miles :mad:
Even with the rad completely removed from the car and filled with water, it was dripping with 0 pressure applied, wtf.
Whatever, now I got a new Mishimoto coming on Tuesday :tup::cool:

But best of all.... I saw ZERO coolant dripping from the HG's!! :cool::cool::tup:

I'm still not 100% convinced, but I got my fingers crossed :tup:

Yikessss been a minute since I've updated this bad boy.

Personal cliff-notes;
Got engaged-

Got married-

Got pro-creating- 👼

Cliff-notes of how this short block built by yours truly ended her life on this planet-

Full story here; High leakdown BUT high compression numbers??

The night of our rehearsal dinner, I had a very, VERY nice package delivered. 😎

Hmmmmmmm..... But which short block is it?? IAG offers so many! Not to mention them restructuring their nomenclature of their "staged" blocks.

Why yesss, yes it's some closed deck, Stage 2.5 (now called the 750) that I found a smoking deal on N-a-s-i-o-c.

Along with some ARP 625+'s that'll be holding down some HeadWorks Motorworks heads that have been; rebuilt, pocket ported, lightly clearanced for 10mm-10.8mm lift cams, with some GSC valves along with beehive springs. Methinks some GSC S1's (aka 264's) will pair nicely to these heads.

Now only 1.5hrs before I can leave work and do some Irish car-bombs, mmmmmmmm
