Newbie with Radio Unit Question

Hi Guys,
I'm new here and I got a question about the radio controller on the spoke of the steering wheel. I got me a 2013 WRX STI late July of this year and I'm loving her.

I have a stock radio unit that is non navigational. So when i'm listening to a cd, the controls on the unit itself does not work, like the skip track button, only the controls on the steering wheel works. Does anyone know how to disable that? or encountered this problem before?

I want to make sure that this is normal before taking it into the dealer. I looked in the owner's manual and didn't see anything.

Any help would be great.

Thanks all
Fongy

hmm... it's weird that I can't hit the skip button on the radio but rather I have to do it on the steering wheel. It's just weird to me. Thanks for your input.
does the skip button work to jump to the next radio station?
I figured it out and I feel dumb, i thought the arrows were to skip, but if you hold it down it skims through your song to a certain point, it would make sense that if you push on that button it would skip to the next track but actually to skip a song, you would need to turn the knob on the right. =\ **slap in the forehead for not reading carefully.**

Thanks guys

I just realized this myself. After you posted the original question, I went out to see how mine functioned. I agree that the intuitive method would be to press the >> once for track advance.
What's intuitive to us, mine not be for the Japanese folks. That's why we have unequal headers because were rougher around the sorts.
